We have played Prismatic Light by Alan Fernie as opener a few times. The subtitle is "Concert Opener" so i guess that fits

Re: breathing
This is why I have been fooling around with the idea of building an additional valve section (keeping the one I have, too) for my Holton. (Hold up on the eye-rolling for just a minute, please.) Next up, modular bells, modular bows, additional BBb slides etc etc A true do it all tuba :laugh ...

Re: Free Programs and Applications
Tuning: I use "Tuner -Pitched!" On my android phone, it has a nice simple interface, I have Tonal Energy, but I don't like it, way to cluttered On my laptop I use FMIT (https://gillesdegottex.github.io/fmit/index.html), a lot of analysis options available but that can all be turned off Notation ...

Re: iPad revisited
I am not a professional musician, I play with multiple groups and there is no librarian to ask (there is one, but he is also supposed to be playing) if they have all the music for me, I have like 500 pieces on my tablet (12", and I crop the scanned music so that I don't have the white margins, which ...

Re: iPad revisited
The issues described (except for the price of possible damage) sound like user error to be honest, either not using a dedicated sheet music app or simply not knowing how to use it. Often with 'new things', the 'new thing' is blamed and not the one using it that didn't spend time learning how to use ...

Re: sending a Bb tuba from Denmark to southern Germany? ??
Given the size of his collection, @Kontrabasstuba has probably dealt with this, maybe he has some tips
I got my tuba from Germany to The Netherlands by car, was about 8-9 hours round trip

Re: Adams Sousaphones
Hmm, I only see Conn, Jupiter, Eastman and Yamaha sousaphones listed on the site.
Only what is listed under "Adams Brass" and "Adams Percussion" is what they manufacture themselves, for the rest Adams is a music store and repair shop, that's how they started

Re: Adams Sousaphones
Mine is fiberglass and old, it was not acquired new by my group Like I said, it is marked Adams but that is not because they made it, its because they partly sponsored it Some photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/caRzQmCf5wh2UyUs8 (Again, no idea if this is what Cameron is talking about, this is the ...

Re: Adams Sousaphones
I have a sousaphone, owned by the 'carneval' group I play with, that is marked Adams on the bell, but it is clearly a Conn 36K. The group already had it when I joined, from what I heard it was supplied/partly sponsored by Adams when the group got it (Adams is local to us) so in return for that we do ...

I have found enough Amati and Lignatone catalogs, bit do you know if there is also an Amati B&F catalog? The seller thought that my 69 was from the '50's, just trying to find some more info on it

Re: Brassandpipes NEW BLOG POST LIGNATONE 68
Do you have any knowledge about the models numbers that were used? for instance my Amati B&F 69 looks very similar to the Amati B&F 1657 you have a blogpost on (although mine was a 3-valve from the factory). Also I have a Cerveny 1660 which is clearly an Arion model (but is not marked as such ...

Thank you for the new post, always enjoy reading your blog
Interesting to read more about the B&F/Amati history.
My Amati B&F 69 doesn't have those small braces by the way

Re: How common are five-valve euphoniums (not DBE)
Not necessarily for the topic starter, but just some more info on 5 valve euphoniums Adams made a prototype a few years ago, don't know if they actually started making it, but if you pay them enough they probably will There is a video about it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8JMCsr4_RQQ?si ...

Re: Important post for the tuba community
I don't think you're going to get some amazing selection of size of bags nor superb quality in the 250 buck price range. I suspect if they're really interested in offering more sizes of low cost bags, they would have already done the research, because it isn't really hard to figure it out. Have you ...

Re: Valve Oil Preferences?
damnit, I just got a big jug of paraffin oil and now I need to get whole goats milk... So after reading about the BlokeMethod(tm) many times I decided to give a try, I couldn't find Ultra-Pure lamp oil around here, but since it is just paraffin oil I decided to look for that, I found a laboratory ...
