This Tuba Tuesday the Museum features a Douglas, E flat tuba, 3 piston, ca.1900.11 3/4” bell and a .610 bore.

Hugh Dow Douglas (1833-1887) was a dealer and possibly maker as well as a performer and promoter of brass bands. He was a dealer for Thibouville and Millereau instruments. It is likely that his son, John Gray Douglas joined his father in the business

That looks a lot like the Tuba I played here in the UK as a youth - wish that I still had it. Mine was silver plate with much engraving on the Bell, I’m not sure of the maker but think that it was probably a Besson. One company making an item and someone else’s name going on it seems to be common practise.
