Gregson w/ Noank-Mystic Community Band, 11/1/23
The Noank-Mystic Community Band, under the direction of CWO Jeffrey Spenner, Assistant Director of the US Coast Guard Band, is putting on a fall concert. This should probably be titled "Alfred Reed-o-Rama."
Program includes:
American Overture for Band, Joseph W. Jenkins
La Gazza Ladra Overture, Gioachino Rossini
Tuba Concerto (mvt. 1), Edward Gregson
Victory at Sea, Richard Rodgers, arr. Robert Russell Bennett
Festivo, Václav Nelhýbel
"Sheep May Safely Graze", J.S. Bach, arr. Alfred Reed
Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, John Philip Sousa
Highlights from "The Music Man", Meredith Willson, arr. Alfred Reed
Autumn Leaves, Joseph Kosma, arr. Alfred Reed
The concert is at 7pm at the City of Groton Municipal Building, 295 Meridian St, Groton, CT 06340. Hope to see you there!

Agree with the above comments! I'm particularly fond of the Alfred Reed arrangement of The Music Man.

Less than a week until this. After a brief intermission, our Dixieland group is also playing a short set. (I am not in that one, unfortunately).
There are more notes on this program than I've played in a long time. Extremely tuba-heavy (even besides the Gregson)!
