LOL...How much to tip a repair-guy?

Post by bloke »

' meant as a joke, but - when people come to me with little stuff (and they often show up worried that its big stuff, when it isn't) it only takes a short time to address what was needed, and I either charge them nothin', a token amount, or something like $30 - $40, it seems that I'm often tipped.

OK...I graciously accept the tips...If it's ten or twenty dollars, we might actually buy real butter (yeah...not joking).
I've had people pay me a hundred when I asked for $50.

My regular auto repair guy lifted my car on an ER basis. (We were going to the beach)

He adjusted something to make the funny sound go away.

Then charged me $00.

I gave him $10 to buy lunch.

This was a few years ago when $10 could buy 2 lunches.

:tuba:

For small jobs my brass guys bills in 15 minute increments... then he spends and hour bullshitting with me and taking engineering stuff. I have to fight with him to accept an hour minimum shop time. I usually tell him to put the extra half hour hot of so towards all the trumpet mouthpieces and tuning slides her gets unstuck without charging the elementary and middle school kids.
As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.
