I asked, and I think he also updated the listing. I have a band mate that may be interested, he's a bit older and looking for something lighter than his Willson.

SOLD: Miraphone Gig Bag

Got a new bag for my 186 and don't need this taking up space right now. It's definitely got some wear but is in good overall shape. I've added some zipper pulls to make the zippers a little easier to grab.

Located in Frederick, MD

SOLD

This an awful lot like the one that was for sale in New York by one of Derek Fenstermacher's old students.

Even so, I think I'm the only person to have touched it, though Aaron would know better if someone else also showed interest when I wasn't looking.

There was another interested party, but it was a means to an end for them. I prefer when horns end up with people that are truly happy to own and ...

Re: What was your favorite horn in the elephant room at the army workshop?

Yeah, the EBB825*g is the GR51-ish horn from what I understand. It's been around for a while. The EBB622 is new to me. I'd be curious to hear about its design goals.

It's based on the research they have been doing into the York tubas. It uses the same piston valve block as the 832 but has ...

Eastman
Eastman's new piston 4/4 BBb based on the "York" horns was killer and nobody showed it much love. It's a much better feeling horn than the EBB534 and I would be surprised if they can justify keeping both in a few years.

This is the EBB622?

It was indeed.

Re: What was your favorite horn in the elephant room at the army workshop?

I had my own booth to attend to, so I only got to play a few things.

My favorite was the Norwegian Star that I bought from Dillon before the show even started. IMG_6549.jpg

I really liked the updated Eastman BBbs with the Rotax valves, especially the all gold brass 825VG that Mike ...

This would also be a great horn to consider, if it is still available. It's a B&S/VMI Stencil so you can at least get a nice vote of confidence when it comes to quality and sound.

Re: Some thoughts on downsizing /advice and opinions sought

I have 3 tubas and it's almost a goldilocks situation. I'm teaching a few students that are getting into the more typical solo rep and my muscle memory for F tuba is winning the battle against my compressed practice schedule. It's been a huge challenge to relearn something like the Vaughn Williams ...

Re: Gig bag for an O99

I already ordered the small Protec Platinum. It will fit, but it may need some pads. It says its a 3/4 bag, and the O99 I gather is more of a 7/8 tuba, so I can't imagine the bag being too big for the horn.

looks like a decent bag. I haven't actually got the horn yet, I'm going to pick it up ...

Re: Doubler Tuba

Wow, thanks. That O99 looks fine, and the price is right for sure. What would I ever use a 4th valve for on a BBb? I'm in Virginia, albeit western VA. If it weren't for that Olds, I'd probably be interested in a 186.

And just out of a combination of curiosity and ignorance, I've got a ...

Re: Doubler Tuba

arpthark has an Olds 0-99 that would be a good fit and it looks to be nice especially for the price he has it at.
I would say if you NEED a fourth valve, the easiest path of least resistance is to have someone add a rotor that operated by the thumb. I've seen it done on some sousaphones and it's a ...

GA CL Miraphone 481 Elektra Raw Brass

Great price, but seems suspiciously low for a relatively new model that's hard to come by.
