Re: Gig Bag Fitment

You know, i experienced all that psychological treatment/abuse when i was in college.

We really need to get rid of the idea that to be a professional tubist, you have to play a Cc and/or F tuba.

Re: TMEA Gem

Im curious about the rotor location. It looks like its right under the palm of your hand. Did it rub on your hand occasionally while playing? Some people move thier hands a lot when they play. I like the short linkage to the lever, seems like it would be more stable. Really cool though. Sent from my ...

Re: Insurance on your tuba(s)?

My wife works for USAA on the insurance property side. They offer a VPP Policy (Valuable Personal Property) policy you can insure instruments, jewelry, coins, firearms, stamps, furs, fine art, silverware & cameras. It protects if they are damaged, lost or broken. No deductible, no minimum to start ...

Re: Insurance on your tuba(s)?

Thats what im looking for here. People with first hand experience and thier story. More info to hopefully make a good choice. Also important; I am a "hobbyist" musician. Meaning that i dont travel/tour with my instruments or leave/store them anywhere other than my home. Where they are guarded 24/7 ...

Re: Insurance on your tuba(s)?

Right. I have read that info in my search also. I have also read that homeowners ins add conditions that make it very difficult to collect on claims and clauses that lessen the value of your instrument. People said that car ins should cover if damaged in an auto accident but they deny claims ...

Insurance on your tuba(s)?

I had some wear and tear repairs done to my tuba last year and the cost of that got me thinking about what the cost would be if i were to have an accident and my horn was damaged. At this time, i couldnt afford major repair or replacement (of my Cc tuba anyway). So i have been pondering and reading ...

Re: POLL TO POSSIBLY EVENTUALLY EMAIL (LINK) TO PRO-TEC

I have a gig bag for my 4/4 horn, its way more fancy than i care for. Leather, big thick blocks of padding, large thin pocket for a folder. I would rather have something that is lightly padded, with a durable covering and simple handle/shoulder strap. Im very careful with it so all the extra, bulky ...

Re: POLL TO POSSIBLY EVENTUALLY EMAIL (LINK) TO PRO-TEC

Im guessing that there is also a fair number of people who own/play old, small sized tubas that never had cases. Or the cases rotted away. Or have changed hands more times than i have fingers to count....

Re: Need small gig bag!

Yes. The Van Caulert tuba is huge! And sounds huge. Some intonation quirks, but sounds awesome in person. Really something for pre electricity hand made magic. Thats the horn he had the bag made for, and the bag is fantastic too.

Re: Need small gig bag!

So a guy i know bought a late 1800s tuba that has a rediculusy huge bell. He found a place that makes custom size gig bags. He said they asked him for measurements and sent him a large sheet of paper to outline the horn and send back. The bag is fantastic. He said it was pricey though. I dont ...
