I usually set my horn on the floor in front of me and stand holding the bell to balance it. However, i typically play an average sized 4/4. I have in the past forgone the standing if there's too little space. Besides, my wife says they cant see me anyway.

This is what the repair tech did to my mp receiver. It would have looked better if they had bent the leadpipe, but that would have required a lot of additional work and im always on a tight budget. Just too many things to spend money on and never enough money.... i should buy a couple lottery ticket...

I really have never put much stock in "tuning" as in at the begining of a concert or rehearsal. As bloke said, people manipulate thier instruments to " tune" and then go back to thier comfort zone. Also, I find that tuning my Cc tuba to concertmaster Bb or A is absolutely useless...

How about making a holder that would attatch over a brace that would look something like the counterweight on trombones. Make a decorative design on it. Someone not familiar with tubas woukdnt even notice it.

I have a question about martin wilk pistons, how do tou identify them? As in, i bought a used tuba and the pistons are very nice. Are they really good manufacturer pistons, or aftermarket.... all i see on them looks like a date stamp.
