Re: The Metropolitan Opera -Tuba job

Does anyone know if the average Joe-Schmoe or student will be able attend the audition? I.E will there be a harsh resume round. I know it’s probably in their best interest to have a smaller audition, but I can think of a couple big jobs that were won by new comers recently. I’m curious if there’s any ...

Re: Portland, OR: 5v Conn 6/4 "Connzilla" w/ both bells, $1,695

I doubt that Matt Walters built that horn. That question mark shaped port on the third valve would be a no-no in his book, I’d wager. Not that it doesn’t work or anything bad, just that Matt seemed to really enjoy building up valve clusters that looks as good, if not better than, something you’d fin ...

Re: WTB: B&S 5th slide extension

The ones Andy smith were selling are for rotary pt-6s.

I asked the man himself and the 5th is bigger. 4th is .770 and 5th is around .830. Older ones might be 0.750 in the 5tj valve.

My friend has a MRP-C(p) and I tried it with mine, I really liked it. Mr. Perantoni has been trying to make this a standard feature for awhile.

Re: WTB: B&S 5th slide extension

I don’t know what this came from but think it was a B&S 5th valve extension. IMG_0420.jpeg I’ll take some careful measurements tomorrow night if that looks like it could work. That Could Potentially work, thanks for measuring! It would need to be the right bore(.825), I'm guessing the legs could be ...

Re: worst paying college majors

What about the people that their only shot of going to college is a good music scholarship… I know plenty of people like this.

While a tuba degree isn’t terribly usefull, it’s better than no degree. Paper ceiling and all. Going to college in modern times is very very expensive.

I think by routing the Lead-Pipe differently you can achieve this.

Re: Elephant Room Impressions (Add your own in the replies)

Didn’t anyone play any any of Lee Stofer’s Lidl horns? Interested in impressions of those. I spent some time on the horns. I found the smaller F tuba to be very nice. Good tone and high range. The larger F I didn’t like so much. Both sported a pretty good low C. The CCs were fun, but not something I ...

Beautiful tuba, if I were in the market I’d jump all over it!

Would putting a short bell on it potentially yield a nice Cc tuba?

Re: New M/W silver 2182 F-$11,475

Atleast on the older catalogue from 2022 or 2023 you can buy a regular 2182 for $1000 cheaper than the 2182W.

I got a list from a month ago and it listed the 2182w at $9750, so hypothetically the 2182 should be $8750 new.

Re: New M/W silver 2182 F-$11,475

I think the new price for one of these is $8,500, but that was a year or two ago so it might have gone up (slightly).
