I was told that the valve section was made in one part of the shop and a serial number was added...the rest of the horn was made in a different part of the factory and a serial number was added... As long as you have two sets of numbers the bell is the most unique part of the horn. The same size ...

Funny, horn players have NO water keys, and seem to delight in emptying slides and spinning their horns to beat the band! :smilie7:

I think the writing (picture of eagle holding euphonium with illegible writing around it) is "Trade Mark".
That's what my Distin euphoniums (SN 16034/18266 & 16449/18568) say.

My music degree did not do anything except make me able to join the symphony and have a lesson business, plus free lance. But -- I could have done all that without a degree. I was told, and this was way back, like in 1970, by a fellow who worked at IBM that I could get a job there as a programmer ...

at Longwood Gardens on their latest tour. 31 years & STILL KILLER! Great Prokofiev Romeo & Juliet and Gershwin Summertime into Vivaldi Seasons. Herr Brandstötter was his usual monster self and carried the group. If you have to sell your firstborn ITS STILL CHEAP! What pros! :bow2: :clap:

The outer slides were cylindrical, only the inners were conical.
And after Lyon &Healy bought Couturier they went to dual-bore valve slides as a cost savings.
