MP close to PT 88

I know a long time ago I asked this question and I can’t find where I asked it so I’m going to ask it again. With it being difficult to find versions of the old PT 88, what mouthpieces out there today would you consider pretty close. The 88 has been my main stay since 1990, but this old dog is ...

I loved the PT 44 and 48 on these.

Re: Alex question

That makes complete sense. I’m guessing when it was built, because I’ve never played an Alex with a first valve set up like mine.

Alex question

Alex 163 question

Valves 1-4 have 16 stamped on them

The 5th is stamped 12

What is the Alexander meaning for these numbers, or is it just a batch number.

Coins on paddles?

Before I think about it, are there any issues with certain coins I need to know about before trying to put them on my paddles? Like the inability to solder certain types of metals?

PT 88 question

Not having kept up with MP’s the past 15 years or so, is there anything out there that would be similar to the PT 88? I love the bowl shape feel for me.

And I’m sure I know the answer, but are the Tucci RT mp’s basically the same as the PT line? RT88=PT88?

Alex 163 CC Bell

I am aware this would be an incredible find if someone had one, but I’m going to put every feeler out before considering paying for a new bell from Alexander!!!

Alex 163 Bell

I’ve seen lots of information regarding miraphone bells being ordered from over the pond, etc. I know I’m about a couple months late due to tariffs and what not, but has anyone here ever attempted to contact Alexander about a replacement bell for a 163? I just acquired an older 163 that plays well ...

Re: Alexander 163 CC 5 valve and Miraphone 186 CC 5 valve

I remember Ivan playing that Alex in Toledo. It was the first Alex I had ever seen or heard, and it was beautiful. Although it used to sit right in the middle of his office at BG, and we were always afraid of catching that fifth valve slide! What a great instrument!

Typical 186 awesome intonation. For myself, with a Schilke Helleberg II or a PT 88, it is spot on.

PENDING SALE - 70’s B flat 186 with case $2500

Ugly duckling early 70’s 186. Lead pipe is not original, nickel Miraphone pipe. Just had a great work over and is free of leaks and everything moves as it should. The bell is typically scarred but has been rolled out as much is can along with the Kranz. All the normal characteristics of an older 186 ...
