Re: Post Your Group and Section Photos Here

Here is our Lincoln Civic Orchestra (community orchestra that's been around for about 45 years, I believe) low brass section. I played with the group for several seasons about 10 years ago, had to leave for scheduling reasons, then started back again last season. It's grown to about 90 people ...

A great picture! I will be stealing your box idea for my own personal use. These horns are starting to get a little heavy.

Suggestions for a Holton "Mammoth" BBb mouthpiece

Hello from Canada, I have now owned the above mentioned 1916 Holton "Mammoth" BBb 3 valve tuba for at least three years. I need several recommendations for a mouthpiece that will not only make the bottom end roar as well as be agile enough in the upper register. I have used a Stofer-Geib and at PT50 ...

Re: 'original mouthpiece' for a 1950s Imperial tuba

Our band has two Boosey&Hawkes BBb tubas dating back to the late 1940"s. I believe that one of them has a "kosikup" mouthpiece tucked into the side pocket of the gig bag. I'll see if I can snag it and post a picture. It may be awhile as we are now on summer break until after Labor Day!

Congratulations on your new purchase! The horn looks fantastic. I was interested to read about the history of your horn. I wonder if the original owner was Fred Geib?

Re: Gig bag for fixed bell king 1240

My gig bag for my fixed bell King 1240 was made by Messina Covers. I believe it might have been the very first one they had ever made. David Messina did a fantastic job and it will be the last gig bag that horn will ever need. It does not hurt to ask

Re: My Life

Thank you very much for sharing this very personal and difficult subject. You have shown great strength to get to the source of the problem AND to be willing to put in the work to make your health better. So many folks just are not willing to do that. I think it is terrific that you will be doing ...

Re: Need advice from Yamaha 201/321 players

I am now playing the second Yamaha 321 that I have owned. The first was purchased new from "Bloke" here on Tubaforum. It was a terrific horn that was only sold to assist a local brass band here in the city. As another poster said, these are "long tubas". Take the time to experiment to find the right ...

Re: regardless of monetary value or quantity of instruments, tuba-wise, do you currently own exactly what you wish to ow

I am happy with the horns that I have and do not envision purchasing anything else in the near future. The most expensive horn I have is the King 2341 and it is a pleasure to play. Each of the other horns comes with a story that is important to me: King "Symphony" Recording Bass- Purchased for me in ...
