Re: What did you play today?

Our outdoor Bridge City Brass Band performance was held on Sunday, June 14th at a very nice park as part of an "Arts Festival". The afternoon was very nice and our playing was great in front of a large and appreciative audience. My two favourites were "Tico-Tico" and a terrific arrangement of Joni ...

Re: "YamaYork" YCB-826s CC - $30,000

Congratulations on your retirement and best wishes for your health and future. I really enjoyed your repair and alteration posts over the years. My favourite and one that I still return to on occasion is the Holton 345!

Re: Whiteman Grand Canyon Suite Cloudburst

I just listened to this moments ago and agree with the OP. The tuba playing was very good indeed. I know that Fred Pfaff played with Sousa.

Re: What did you play today?

I have two concerts remaining, both in early June. Today was Brass Band music. I played my way through "Tico Tico", "Pastime with Good Company", "Overture Promenade for Brass Band", and "Skyfall". The Holton is a terrific horn to rehearse this repertoire with. I would bring it to the rehearsals and ...

Re: New Tuba Day - Meinl Weston 2145

Your new Meinl Weston 2145 is a terrific tuba. I owned one over ten years ago and other than the thumb ring debacle as mentioned by others, it was a great little tuba. I sold it to return to the BBb world as that is what the Concert Band world runs on! Thank you for posting and also a thanks to Eric ...

Re: What did you play today?

A terrific concert this afternoon. Our band played last on the program and certainly rose to the occasion! Excellent dynamics and paying attention to all the little details really made things go extremely smoothly. A full house with a very appreciative audience and a very pleased conductor at the ...

Re: What did you play today?

Yesterday's playing was spent polishing the music for my Monday night Community Concert Band. Our part of a three band performance will be held on Sunday, May 10th at 2 pm in the theatre of Holy Cross High School here in Saskatoon. The program will include an intermediate band, a beginner band and ...

Re: Bridge City Brass Band Concert in Saskatoon!

LOL! Over a month after the concert and I can report that it was terrific. Our audience filled the bottom half of the church and seemed to really enjoy the program. A one hour and five minute concert with no intermission and minimal introductions to each piece by the conductor really helped keep the ...

The stand you described was sold through Baltimore Brass at one point. Check with them to see if they still stock them. Failing that, a competent woodworker should be able to make you one. Good Luck!

Re: What did you play today?

Our third Bridge City Brass Band performance of the season is coming up very shortly. Sunday, March 8th. Yesterday's rehearsal was spent just working on the spots that need attention. I finally know enough :eyes: to not waste time playing the stuff I can already play and just focus on the trouble ...

Re: What did you play today?

Today was Community Concert Band music practice at home. Warmup and then "Fiddler On The Roof", "Baba Yetu", "Blue Tango", "Elton John Favorites","Gabriel's Oboe","The Lion King","Tijuana Brass In Concert" and "Semper Fidelis". I then took a break and read the Elephant's post in this same thread and ...
