Re: Green Bay, WI area (FB): 2 Selman 4v oval euphs $500/pr
I'm not 100% certain, but I believe these may have belonged to Joel Blahnik. He lived in Door County and was the resident expert on Czech music. Joel passed away earlier this year.

Re: TUBBY THE TUBA
I do not own it. However, I do know two organizations in my area (one college music program and one community band) who own it and I could point you in the direction of. Note: I do not have any authority to loan anything out, I would merely be "making the introduction." Let me know if you don't have ...

Re: Horns I sold, that I wish I had back
A few for me: I sold an Olds O-99-4 that I loved...wish I had kept it. Had a great Reunion Blues (black leather - LA) trombone gig bag I wish I had kept. Tried a spectacular King 2B+ Silversonic trombone at a conference...that thing had ZING...should have bought it on the spot. Others I've played ...

Re: Eastman 534 vs the 562
This is going to seem rather controversial, but both of these horns play better than a 186. The 534 feels like the prototype 2341 I played in the late 90's in Eastlake, which at the time was the best BBb tuba I had ever played, and the 562 reminds me of the miraphone hagen 496, but slightly smaller ...

If you can go a little higher you might also find a vintage compensating Besson.

Re: WTB: 1st Valve for Old Besson 3-Valve BBb Compensating Tuba
Does look like the bottom port pathway (for lack of a better name) may have been dented but could still possibly hold air. I imagine it might be possible to make another base plate and solder it in place, and may gently improve the port pathway closer to round? But i don't actually know, and a ...

Re: WTB: 1st Valve for Old Besson 3-Valve BBb Compensating Tuba
I know it's a needle in a haystack, but figured I'd post something! My new school is in need of one - the valve currently in it has a hole through the bottom. Will post pictures of the horn later when I get home :) I anticipate that a photo of the damaged part will help others suggest a repair ...

Re: On hold message
Maybe this is more of a PM discussion, sorry. Which is funny, because, his PM mailbox is full :-) Oh, meaning I should send Mark a PM - sorry :) :) :) The "other place" maxes out at 999 if I recall. There is the option where phpBB will automatically delete the oldest message and deliver the new one ...

Re: On hold message
bloke Messages can also show up as "on hold" when an inbox is full (it saves it until you clear room). The max is 500 messages, and it should show you how many you have used. LeMark 500 is the default setting I think...any objections to a higher limit? OR we can encourage users to keep their boxes ...

Re: Pan AmeriConn Helicon
@ParLawGod might be able to help you with this one: Quite a few years ago I made a double Loop gooseneck for a con sousaphone which was converted to a Helicon. The Helicon played sharp even with a super long tuning slide extension. I told the owner of the Helicon that once they received this double ...

I agree. Looks like a tenor horn to me.jonesbrass wrote: ↑Wed Nov 22, 2023 11:00 amThere are differences. On second look, it is more likely to be a tenor horn. Less flare in the throat and bell. Slightly different sound.
