Re: yet another stupid "tuba" T-shirt for sale...
Does “not yet kicked out of my community bands” count as “can play tuba”?

B&S F that's not a Symphonie and not a PT-x
Listed at the old place, with about the most economical first comment I've seen.

Re: B&S BBb Tuba for sale model 103 Symphonie
The F Symphonie I bought from Germany a few months ago is really excellent, so I'm tempted to try this, even though I shouldn't.
Just out of curiosity, how conical is the valve block?

I guess realistically there aren't enough B&S Symphonie tubas at that price for everybody to have one.

Sold: Scherzer CC tuba
This lovely interesting tuba should be played more than I'm playing it, so it's up for sale. Sold. I'm near Austin, Texas. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=bf669210ceef9534%2194190&authkey=%21AL-Atj4HwWJk5b0&height=1024 This is a compact 4/4 rotary four valve C tuba. This one passes the ...

Thanks everyone for adding this reason to my list of reasons I'm unlikely to ever get something bigger than my super comfortable 188.

Re: 2 Schiller Tuba Questions
Please, do yourself a favor and buy a Jupiter or Packer if that's what you really want. My experience with Laabs is that Schiller instruments are sold as-is with no warranty. You will be SOL, as I have been, if there's a problem. I hope there are people who have been thoroughly pleased with their ...

Re: Name a BBb that:
My 186 with Yamaha bell is the same way, with the longer tuning slide that pretty much fixes the 5th partials. Now that have an F tuba and care more about high notes, I wonder if maybe the tradeoff for less-flat 5th partials is a slightly more flat very high end, but (1) I'm not sure, and (2) I ...

Re: Turning over all my equipment
The past was quite long ago, so trombones were surely quite bright for a long time. I’ve no idea what the customs are now, but would guess nearly everyone has trombones at least big enough for an F valve. I’m playing a German rotary F tuba on EEb part, though, so I’m trying not to know too much about ...

Re: Turning over all my equipment
…. The only trombone in the entire ensemble is a bass trombone, so (yes? no?) shouldn't the little baritones sound much more like tenor trombones than euphoniums? There are other normal tenor trombones — at least two parts. But the main reason brass bands get mentioned around here is for the basses ...

Re: Versions of Miraphone 181 F tubas
Thank you so much for the timeline, Christian . The first version design does look very much like the B&S tubas. Here's mine, just before I sold it, next to a Symphonie. The Miraphone has nicer brace posts. https://onedrive.live.com/embed?resid=bf669210ceef9534%2194038&authkey=%21AAW8SxTeC0jEiWk ...

Re: for those pursuing performance degrees
Actually, I can change "musicians" to "artists". Any paid activity that a lot of hobbyists are willing to do for free is going to pay poorly to everyone but the stars. And the reality is most of the audience won't notice any difference between the pro group and the amateur group. That’s a little d ...
