Isn't a new 186 also a $10k tuba (roughly)?

This finally slipped onto the second page, so ... bump.
Let me know if I've priced it too high or if this is just a lousy time to sell this kind of tuba.

Re: Why F Tuba?

I'd be attracted to a nice-condition Miraphone 180 @-$2200, but Mrs. bloke would not approve, unless I had a buyer lined up... ...and (again) it would likely never leave the house (ie. wouldn't generate an income, so...) If you find one and intend to sell it on for not too much more, you can line ...

Weren't most of the CB quintets arranged for C tuba, anyway?

She frequently sits next to me and looks attentive. As if she enjoys it. But maybe she just hopes I'll take the hint and move on to something quieter.

A high school director that makes the bass players keep horns on their playing shoulders for an hour without any break has misplaced priorities.

Re: The ZEN of watching TV while practicing tuba

So when Im out of shape, I know I have to play every day for a bit to get some chop strength, find the center, start playing in tune. 30 mins at first, then 45 mins, then an hour and so on. The way I keep expectations in check during this fragile time (rebuilding chops), is to only listen with one ...

Re: Tips for remote lessons

My teacher says he can hear dynamics pretty well over Skype, with an iPad and plug-in mic on my end. But I can't hear dynamics from his end, whatever he's using. Part of it may be that the external mic has control software that lets you set levels instead of using automatic gain control.

glad someone is getting it. I couldn't resist "seeing if I could put together an MRP-like tuba", but - also - I do not need two F tubas... "Two or more F tubas", moreover, is something that is needed in Austin, TX, etc... I'm in Austin, only need one F tuba, and was really tempted, so I'm glad ...

Re: Clearance Sale on Tuba Bags

Thanks so much, Tom. I have a newish Miraphone top-loading bag that's also slightly too big for the tuba, so I'll keep using that until your new design comes out, when I can get closer to the right size. I hope you're able to keep the pocket on the protected back of the bag in the new design. That's ...

Re: Sellmansberger Mouthpieces

Having access to all this stuff that I've tried has TAUGHT ME (and I should have known this from doubling on 9-feet-long B-flat instruments with much smaller mouthpieces) that the concept of "keeping the same rim for every tuba" is bunk. If a player's face is so inflexible that there is some sort ...

Re: Clearance Sale on Tuba Bags

I thought I'd seen a page of color samples on the site, but I guess not... Would the navy top-loader be a decent fit for a tuba with 16.5" bell and 38.5" height, where the bottom 5/8" is a sharp keel? Or would I be happier with a slightly smaller custom case? https://kmwsgg.dm.files.1drv.com ...

Tips for remote lessons

After a couple of lessons, this is the setup I've settled on (as student). The iPad on the tripod runs Skype and has an external mic attached to it. The music stand is sturdy enough to hold a laptop computer at a useful hight for music that's not printed out. The ceiling is low, but it's too hot to ...

Besides plain mechanical problems, what makes a tuba hard to play? Or what makes it easy? ... From what I understand Cerveny and Amati rotary horns were made in the same factory, with the Horns marked amati having less Nickel silver trim, and those were also the horns that were rebadged as stencils ...
