Re: Old German tuba on eBay

I'd say a big patch- maybe to reinforce an area badly damaged by a "young scholar" as @bloke would say.

All I know of its history is it once belonged to a Chicagoland band director.

Old German tuba on eBay

Hindemith Symphony in B-flat.

James Barnes wrote nine symphonies, and I believe that they are all for wind band.

My to-do list just got longer.

Re: What did you play today?

That deMeij symphony is a great piece, and was a lot of fun to play. It's one of two symphonies I know of that the composer scored for concert band- the other being James Barnes' third, which I've also played. Anyone know of any others?

Re: I'm getting ready to run another batch of "Shallowberger" cimbasso mpcs. w/standard shank

Well, I bought @MikeS 's small-shank Shallowberger and it fits this little Lehnert Eb nicely- the shank goes into the receiver a bit more than halfway.

And I had to download an Eb fingering chart. Feels like grade school again..............

But it works. Nice job, @bloke .

Re: What did you play today?

I'm too ignorant to be able to answer the question about the Lord of the Rings Symphony, but it well could be from that. There's a B flat treble clef part and a C string base octave bass clef tuba part. Of course, I'm reading off the latter.

If it's the last part of this, at 30:05, it is indeed ...

Re: What did you play today?

I've got some "Jedi"...blah-blah band (not arrangement, but) original-keys transcription of some movie music (that's probably the note-y-ist piece in the folder...lots of runs of notes with double flags, etc...), along with some other John Williams transcriptions, a set of J.P. Sousa pieces (four ...

Re: What did you play today?

Easter service. We played the Gregor "Hosanna Anthem" arranged by Craig Garner, and the Marcello "Psalm 19 (The Heavens Declare the Glory of God)" arranged by Michael Allen. And we used the John Rutter brass/organ arrangement of the Easter Hymn that bloke introduced us to some years ago, which I've ...

What a beautiful.............. car, a late 1950s Mercedes. Probably a 300 but I can't be sure. Looks like the poor guy is having trouble shifting gears.

Re: I'm getting ready to run another batch of "Shallowberger" cimbasso mpcs. w/standard shank

Too bad- I was recently gifted one of those little Eb horns, and it takes a small shank. BBC got it into playing condition, but now I need a proper mouthpiece for it.

Maybe some of both- see: Erik Leidzen's transcriptions for the Goldman Band, etc. These transcriptions brought this music to folks who might not have heard it otherwise.
