Re: Howard Johnson

I am so glad I had the opportunity to see him perform. Funniest line from the concert : I've been carrying around all these heavy instrumuments for years and you guys want to hear me play this penny whistle.

RIP.

Tuba rims and trombone /euphonium mouthpieces

All prices include USPS Priority Mail shipping within the United States. I prefer not to ship overseas, but if you are willing to take all the risk, fill out the proper paperwork and take on the extra cost, I will consider it for any items left after 2 weeks. Re: You never know what might work....

With my kaiser baritone (aka: "tenor tuba"), I'm also finding that that a great-big-ol' mouthpiece isn't really the best match for a great-big-ol' instrument. The (large shank) mouthpieces that work best for me are mouthpieces from the 6-1/2AL size range to the 5GS size range...and there'...

You never know what might work....

Years ago, during my search for the Holy Grail of mouthpieces, I purchased a no name, 67C sized mouthpiece with the thought of increasing the bore size a bit and using it on my Marzan. After I was done, I declared the mouthpiece a paperweight, and never used it again. Since then, thousands of dollar...

E.M. Winson tuba valve guide

E.M. Winston tubas were sold by Sam Ash in the 90's and I've acquired one recently. I've never seen valve guides like these in any other horn. I don't need any now, but better to find some now than when I need them. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere? Pictures in link below.... https:/...

Re: Favorite Valve oil for pistons?

It's my trusty Packer 274. I really like the instrument, but the tolerances seem to be "professionally tight" and it doesn't tolerate such nonsense as ignoring regular cleanings. I've owned old bessons and Kings before, and I've never had this kind of issue before, but I play this horn mo...
