Messina Covers 6/4 gig bag

Bag is sold. This is a basically brand new Messina Covers Eastman 6/4 bag. It has been sitting around for a few weeks, and it is time to move it on. I got it hoping it would work with my 6450, but it is tighter than I am comfortable with. The case is great, and basically brand new. I think that ...

Mack Brass TU421S 3/4 CC Tuba

Asking $2500. This tuba is the one that Tom used in his promo video. It's great if you are looking for a small CC tuba. It has one dent from a tech guy tipping over microphone stand at a gig a few years ago and a few scratches from getting played a bunch, but is in great shape overall. Includes the ...

Alexander 163 CC

I have finally decided to sell my Alexander 163 CC. Asking $6500 and open to a reasonable offers. Open partials on this one are better than any other Alexander I have played. The G at the bottom of the staff for me is great open as is the E in the staff. I do use two alternate fingerings on D and C ...

Re: Question for Members of the 6-valved F Tuba Society (Bloke?)

I find that on my Alexander F that valve is a little closer to a true 3/4 step. For me, I use it more with 136 for a solid F# or B natural. It also gives me a dead-on low G 1346. I have enough slide to make it work for a C# 126, but it sits a little on the low side (15-20 cents) without pushing in ...

Re: Cheap handmade MW 6450/2 at Dillon

I bought it. :tuba: I’ve wanted to have one of these around for quite a few years. The price of a new one, and the frequency that my Alexander CC wasn’t big enough (really almost never happens) kept me from pulling the trigger. The price on this one was really low so I called Matt. We talked through ...

Re: Alexander 163 BBb

It might be an Alexander bell on an older B&S/Weltklang body. I am not sure what happened in its loooong lifetime. The bracing and bore size says B&S to me, which is different that the logo engraved on the bell. I have a couple of other Alexander tubas here, and have owned a number of others. I just ...

Alexander 163 BBb

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bev15vjL41cRTg7YCYJEjCxxkTrFvWzk?usp=sharing I'm pretty sure this is a B&S/VMI stencil for Alexander. The bore size, playing characteristics, all point that way (for better and worse). It was in pretty rough shape when I got it, and has been brought back to ...

Re: Alexander Tubas

As someone who has played one of these as my primary CC and F tubas for quite a while, I feel obligated to way in. I think that Joe is pretty accurate on describing the 163 model Alexander (no eyebrows going up here, lets be honest about what these tubas are). It sounds a little larger (bigger ...

Blazhevic etude question

I got an email about an audition in Switzerland recently and it had a work listed that I'm not familiar with. V. Blazhevic Etude mit Klavier (Lento Fantastico) (Kontrabasstuba) I hadn't seen this one before and didn't find it in a google searches, a quick look through my music library, or listed for ...

Re: Albuquerque CL: Older 2341

Well then, that went a little nuts! I thought that I was just going to say thanks to hrender for posting all these offsite listings. I think that I helped create this mess because I sent my cousin this and asked him to buy it. My instructions were that if they were nice people, and the tuba seemed ...

Rudolf Meinl 5/4 BBb - Sold

SOLD I've decided to sell my 4 valve, Rudy 5/4 BBb tuba. The alignment on the first and second valve slide is great, and the second valve is vented. The previous owner added a thumb ring pull on the second valve slide. The work was well done, but I moved the first valve when playing it more than the ...

Re: Mouthpieces for sale - Please help stop me from becoming a collector

Sorry, they showed ok for me. Try this; https://photos.app.goo.gl/qGfeNtTNv7T6iid27

I just tried them in the Euro sized receiver on my 5/4 Rudy BBb. They only went in about 40-45% of the way though, so they are larger.

Re: Mouthpieces for sale - Please help stop me from becoming a collector

Actually, YES I think so. Incredibly shallow was probably not the best choice of words here. I've had multiple people give me advice about the Helleberg II being a good fit on these Alexander 163's over the years. And compared to that, they are that shallow. but that's a pretty deep mouthpiece to be ...

Sold - Humes & Berg - Stonelined Sh! Sh! practice mute

Item is now sold. This is one of the old "New Stone Lined" practice mutes. I think that I bought this used back in 2006 or 2007. It works great and is in pretty good shape. I used it for years with both my Alexander F and an Alexander CC. It has minor cork wear, as shown in photos, but I never ...
