Yamaha Silent Brass Pick up mute

I scored this version (first version??) PM1 for very cheap: https://kowwrer.shop/Detail.aspx?id=1200295&z=ZQH&ll=https%3a%2f%2fcevidyamandir.com%2fzpes.php

Works very well, I like it much better than my Schlipf mute. Dampens better, tuning much better.

My question; When adding the pick-up mute ...

Re: Educate a slide guy on valves

Great topic! As a trombone player I really had to let go of using legato tongue with legato (so using the valves now). I have a low tolerance for tuba's that have pitches that are all over the place. I am really not a fan of lipping things up and down.

Missing pitches in the mid range playing ...

Re: Some modifications I have had done to my Besson 983 Eeb

Thanks! To me the horn sounds fuller and weighter with the thumb ring. In itself is quite substantial. When I bought it the cork was allmost completely gone. I recorked it and it stays put just fine.

Re: Some modifications I have had done to my Besson 983 Eeb

I have not seen other 983’s with a thumb ring. That I noticed…. To me it sounds and plays better (fuller sound) than without a thumb ring. Was the thumb ring an extra or did everyone ditch theirs??

Thanks :). I got the inspiration for the trigger from your modifications to that big BBb! Nice and simple & light weight!

Cost where ok…

Some modifications I have had done to my Besson 983 Eeb

Hi

I wanted to share some modifications I have done to optimize the playing of this Besson.
- doug elliot screw rim made to fit a Wick 3L. I do not like the Wick rim and with the full DE setup it was tricky to play very soft and the lower was not as open as I would like. To me this mod is the best ...

Re: Somebody missing a Hokton 345CC?

Arnold Jacobs used to call his York a 5/4. I bought a BMB 6/4 CC that was advertised as a 5/4. My point being, these designations are kind of amorphous, so I can forgive someone not being super hip to the lingo.

These horns were made 70-60 years ago, so it seems plausible to me that Uncle Bob ...

Re: Cronkhite Leather Gig Bag for my Eastman EBF866 F-Tuba

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a leather gig bag for my Eastman F-tuba EBF866 by Cronkhite. Unfortunately, they're not available in Germany. Does anyone have one they'd like to sell? Ideally, a new one...

Thanks!

Perhaps through this shop? https://www.brassatelierdewilde.nl/cronkhite-tuba-gig ...

Re: What are your favorite pieces for wind band?

Band directors (still today...??, only around here...??, only in the past...??) seem (seemed?) to view Lincolnshire Posey as "the ultimate band composition" (typical brag: "Our band performed Lincolnshire Posey 'at contest'.") I've never played it, and (admittedly) listening to it never held my ...

I tried it with a lot of horns but never got there (very large sound, nimble, in tune and clarity). Something has to give…
