I played on that for a while. Did a year of concerts on it and everything.
It was in that condition
EDIT:
I think I may be mistaken, since this one has broken s bend linkages. The one I played had fully functioning valve machines and an even more caved in outer top bow.
I was taught those Remington across partial lip slurs as an essential “warm up” and used them throughout pre post-secondary school. It may be that the times are changing, but by the time I left university, I had completely discarded those exercises from fundamental routines, and most of my slur work ...
In an alternate timeline - where I had discovered and managed my attention deficit early enough to have had my s*** together enough to have gained traction in the tuba world - I could have offered to buy your 345 to carry on it’s legacy, but instead I’m broke and penny pinching while waiting for a us ...
I've owned 2, the last being pre-kranz or something (I'm not very good with piggy vintages); I remember that pig being mp responsive, and my favorite to use on it was a stofer geib in ensembles for velvety organ pipe-like low tuba noises
I recall a Carolinian who stuck a kaiser (I mean a KAISER !!! - LARGE small-end) European baritone bell on a Miraphone model 84 C tuba, wildly extended the mouthpipe tube and made it into one of those (what's the proper name for them...??) European hiking tubas. @Kontrabasstuba : Help me out, here ...
(Photo by Tabor Fisher) https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-JmdcgLR/0/bc361c01/O/i-JmdcgLR.jpg I played on one of these for about a year or so of my life. Low range was surprising for it's tiny footprint, but not stellar. With the right mouthpiece and conviction, it can get a really bright tone ...
Is it possible to decompress the pre-compressed felts?
Do the tone enhancers work on bass and contrabass and altobass and tenorbass tubas? Don't think I need them for my sopranobass tuba
You may be on to something, bloke.
I can see it now: years into future
All tubaists now carry sophisticated bellows, purpou$e built for tuba-ing that are operated by underarm attachments, so that you must flap like a bird to use them
Interesting. Here's one that's not F, but it's little. Kind of bracing for impact, because I seem to remember there was something wrong with this. It seems too good to be true. Just want to make sure to turn over that stone and look under it... They started importing one that looks like one of the ...
looks really cool, but the 5th slide blocking easy access to the 1st slide is a bit unfortunate.
Methinks the flat whole step single crook slide would make a perfect little slot to slip your wrist through.
Glad you enjoyed yours! There's a tuba for everybody. :tuba:  I do get your distaste for them, as they're fairly skinny tubas and play with more back pressure than I like to feel (maybe the one I played was leaky?). Anyway, I sat down and really figured out how to play it in tune because I ...
I owned one for a while that was so so, and never really liked it until I borrowed it from it's owner after me to play in a uni orchestra concert while my tuba was in the shop. They're really fun tubas, and I remember having a better time playing it as a 3 valve tuba with an auxillary 4th mentality ...
