I actually just loaned this to a local opera company for their production of Barber of Seville, so it will not be available until the end of October.

Re: hey Blake...that Jakob Winter case I just bought...

Love those Winter cases. I have Mark's old Piggy case for my Piggy right now; fits great after doing just a bit of foamectomy surgery. But it's wooden and heavy and more for storage than transport. I have a Cronkhite bag that belonged to Michael Bush (RIP) for hauling it around. For the Alex CC, I ...

You're right -- even the pics on Noah's site show the number on the tuba as 4197. His site has it mislabeled.

FS: Reynolds Contempora Eb Sousaphone $300

This is a 1950s Reynolds Contempora Eb sousaphone. Three valves, very light and nimble, super fun to play. All slides move, including top-facing 1st valve slide to tune on the fly. Valve plating is 100%. There is significant lacquer wear on the instrument and it looks like it lost a fight with a ...

Introducing the Bean Hill Brass website!

Hi all, I am just a one-man show here in the historic Bean Hill district of Norwich, Connecticut. I do "play condition" repairs (still learning and getting better!) and sell tubas and other brass instruments at really reasonable prices. I also ship across the continental USA. Check out my ...

Re: Turning over all my equipment

The tubas I play regularly number approximately four - Piggy for most stuff, Conn 36K sousaphone for outdoor stand-up gigs, King 2341 recording bell for outdoor sit-down gigs, and the Alex F for quintet and fiddling around with acrobatic stuff at home that I will probably never play in public ...

Re: For all you Swiss F alto cornet fans...

Put it on a band director Facebook page and refer to it as a Willson compact marching mellophone. That's what it was originally listed as—"mellophone/marching French horn." Ended up buying it, an 1890s Distin Eb tuba (great shape), and an old friction fit Conn 4H from the same seller. I know you o ...

Re: For all you Swiss F alto cornet fans...

Update: - got the leadpipe unbent - de-dented the 2nd valve slide - got the horn adapter unstuck from the receiver (ended up soldering a junk horn mouthpiece to it and using a vise and lots of penetrant) - got all the slides, valves, and valve caps unstuck - put it all back together - stuck a proper ...
