Denis Wick "Heritage" style 2.5 CC - $80
I've been selling off assorted tuba m.p.'s at bargain basement prices. I'm reducing my Wick "Heritage" style 2.5 CC by five dollars to $80. It's a good m.p., so I won't sell it cheap. It's all silver plated - it doesn't have the gold plating in the cup and along the rim. Denis Wick lists it has ...

Re: FS: Various tuba m.p.'s priced to sell!
Bump. I still have some nice pieces left for sale, and I'm still inviting best offers. My Wick Heritage 2.5 CC is a good one, as long as you're not going to be blowing fortissimo constantly. The octaves are well in-tune on my Neptune when using this one.

FS: Various tuba m.p.'s priced to sell!
Various tuba mouthpieces priced to sell. I will list these roughly from largest to smallest. The cost includes shipping within CONUS. Photos available for serious inquiries. All of these pieces are in good shape, with no major dents or scratches anywhere. I will describe the condition of each m.p ...

Re: Eastman EBC834
Matt, I tried an 832 at Park Ave. Music in San Jose, Ca. I liked it! It blew very nicely, and seemed pretty well in-tune to me. However, that was in a small practice room, so I couldn't get any 'feel' for how it might sound in a band room or concert hall. To his credit, the owner of Park Ave. Music ...

Before I die, I’d like to see ONE viola player, successfully complete a parallel parking maneuver. [/quote] My former viola playing girlfriend of many years was a terrific driver and could parallel park. However, for the last - I don't know - 20 years or so, she's been living in London with her h ...

WTB: Wessex American to Euro shank adapter
Wessex doesn't seem to ever restock their American shank to Euroshank adapters any more. Let me if you have one you're not using or wanting. Thanks. You can PM, or e-mail me at barrygrrr@yahoo.com

Re: Wessex "Elgar" compensating Eb tuba - input wanted
I like to get an idea of what a tuba is going to sound like in front of an audience, and not just in some low ceiling back room. I appreciate it when they use a concert hall or recital hall, or something closer to that. I saw one video - pretty good player - that was recorded in a small practice ...

Wessex "Elgar" compensating Eb tuba - input wanted
Hi, I'm looking for unbiased input on the new Wessex "Elgar" open wrap, compensating Eb tuba. I can't tell much from the Wessex videos because their players always sound a tad blatty in the low register, regardless of which tuba they're trying out. I'm guessing that has as much or more to do with ...

WTT: rotary "Neptune" for piston PT-6, 7, or piston Neptune
Just testing the water to see if anybody wants to trade their B&S piston PT-6, PT-7 or piston "Neptune" for my rotary Neptune. What few dents that are on there are very small. These is some wear to the gold lacquer. The rotors move fairly fast. I have a T-bar pull on the main slide; a bar and thumb ...

Re: Superfine closing for the summer!! Order now!
Warehouse space going further towards Point Richmond might be less expensive. But with the cost of gasoline, maybe looking in southeast S.F. might make some sense. Just a thought. Good luck. I'm sure glad I have your wonderful bag for my Neptune.

Re: POLL !! - XCVIII (added on p.5 [5-23-22] a picture from 2014)
I'll add my unsolicited zwei Groschen. I'm guessing the reason that "Siegfried" hasn't caught on in Europe while "Fafner" has, is greatly for practical reasons. A lot of players over there 'do' opera, and opera pits are notoriously crowded. Also, European players tend to travel between cities a lot ...

Re: Narrowing down mouthpieces
Without first knowing your horn, to answer your question while using the broadest possible brush stroke, I like the regular Stofer Geib (the bored out Stofer "Air Corp" Geib didn't agree with my Neptune). It seems to have a good balance of various elements. But since your tuba is smaller than mine ...

With the B-flats and A-flats in there, this excerpts lays really well on Eb tuba. It was a cinch.

Re: Large Eb tubas -- front action, upright bell
The low F is really good on the 983, if pull out either the third valve slide (which is the most 'outboard' one), or the first valve slide (which is more 'inboard'). Nobody buys an Eb tuba for a really great low E natural . . . do they?

I can testify that Bloke's equipment is really good, and that Joe will work with you to get a good combination going for any particular tuba, cimbasso, etc. I could easily be using my Blokepieces on a daily basis too. I've just been enjoying the Helleberg type rims lately.
