Re: Mouthpiece Suggestions John Packer Eb Tuba
Oystein Baasvik uses a Conn 120S. I like the Robert Tucci RT-64 or a Sellmansberger (it doesn't matter much which one to me) with a 32.3 rim.

Re: Eb vs F tuba in an orchestra to the tubists ears
I play Eb for band and quintet. My Eb of choice for band is a Kanstil 66t. Nice round full sound that can keep up to a small band. If paired with a BBb player, I can play the upper parts and add a new dimension to the band sound and we can handle a medium sized band. Polkas are more interesting with ...

Re: I don't *need* this...
The question you should answer is, "does this tuba bring me pleasure (a smile to my face) when I play it?" if it does, you can afford it and you have space, then the answer is keep it. It's that simple. For more of us, playing tuba is not about need because we are not making a living by playing. We ...

Re: Wenger Sousaphone Chair
The tubing on the stands is as I got it. They could have been dipped, but they are thick like a factory would do it. Not as thick as I remember the really old rubber tubing ones I used a very long time ago. I went to Fed-Ex to have them estimate packing. That was about $25. Shipping ran around $50 ...

Re: Wenger Sousaphone Chair
I will reduce the price to $200 plus shipping and handling. If you are looking for a good sousaphone chair, this is a good deal.

Wenger Sousaphone Chair SOLD
I have a vintage version of the Wenger chair with the green leatherette seat cover. The seat is intact with no cut or wear spots. All the holding arms are intact and the rubber tubing on the arms is in very good shape. Basically this is like a new chair with some of the paint on the under side of ...

Re: Do you play Eb tuba?
I've been playing Eb for 30 years. It started when I got an old Martin Eb at auction for $20. I play in small (50 or less) bands, quintets and solo work. The Eb has been big enough for all those situations. I had as many as 11 tubas at one time. Now I'm down to 4. All are Eb.

I use Tarishield too, but I apply it, let it sit for a while then wash it off with water. I then wipe it down, let the horn dry and then add a coat of car wax.

Re: TubaChristmas 2020
Special note to Minnesota Tuba players - the Tuba Christmas in Brainerd is a GO! Sunday, Dec. 13th, 1:30 rehearsal at CLC, performance at 3 pm in the Brainerd Mall. Brainerd is roughly 2 hrs N of the north side suburbs, good places to grab a bite together before we all head home. I hope to see some ...
