Re: neat coincidence with Holst Second Suite/tuba choice tonight

Love it! We just played Second Suite in our local community band Wed night in Truckee, CA. I found my copy of the tuba part that I "borrowed" when I graduated high school in 1986 and pulled it out for the performance. Still one of my favorite tuba parts to play

Tuba part for Hungry Five plays Ragtime

I'm playing in a little oompah band with trumpets, clarinets, trombone, euphonium and tuba. The rest of the band has music from the Hungry Five Plays Ragtime but we can't find the tuba part. I've looked on line and everything I've seen shows it out of print. Just thought I'd post here and see if ...

What's the highest elevation you've played at?

After doing the 26K race on Friday, spent the better part of Saturday playing my tuba for the trail runners doing the 50K at the Mammoth Trail Festival. We were at the peak cheering on the racers at 11,053 feet (3369 M). Definitely noticed I needed a few more breaths!

Places to listen to traditional music with tuba in Salzburg/Munich

Reposting this in the correct forum area since I can't figure out how to edit the other one Heading to Salzburg and Munich in about a month for a quick trip. Other than the Hofbrauhaus in Munich, any suggestions on good places to enjoy a beer and listen to some traditional bands (hopefully with a ...

Re: FS- Miraphone 182

When I got it there were two different ones. One of them broke a few months ago and it got replaced with a different color

Is it the lighting, or what's with the ball joints being different colors?

FS- Miraphone 182

Selling my Mirafone 182. I bought the tuba 3 years ago and it's still in great shape! Consider this model as a large 3/4, slender 4/4, or a 7/8 size tuba. Take your pick. This one is in ready-to-play shape. Valves and slides all work well. Original case is what used to be called a Jacob Winter case ...

Leaving your tuba in a hot car

With much of the US of A in a heat wave right now, I gotta ask a practical question: Is there any harm in leaving your tuba in a hot car during the day? I did this a couple of weeks ago and it was the first time I had to "cool down" my instrument to start playing in rehearsal

Re: Post-Surgery Advice Requested

Family medicine doc here and my wife in an anesthesiologist. Are they repairing the aortic arch or is the aneurysm further down? Did they bring up why they can't do an endovascular repair. I'm sure they have a good reason for it but I'm more just interested for my own edification. I was talking to ...

Re: Mnozil Brass

How was it? We didn't make it- we were going to drive over from Reno and they didn't open I80 in time for us to go. Thanks for this- I just saw they are playing in Palo Alto tomorrow night. If my wife can get off work, I'd love to try and get there I'll be there. Bringing my wife and 8 year old ...
