Re: Broomfield, CO: Willson 4v non-comp euph $1k
I looked one of those in very good condition for a while to add a fifth valve to and eventually just made that modification on my king. The king intonation is pretty much point and shoot and the stories I had heard about the Wilson, mostly from Joe, kind of scared me off of one

Re: Where to try out new Tubas?
Just be aware if you come to texas, the only E flat tubas you may be able to try are the packer, the eastman, the miraphone Norwegian Star and maybe the St Petersburg. That's the usual offering I would hate for you to travel all that way and be disappointed in the selection

oh yeah, 100%
I was just saying that miraphone doesn't do a booth at the DC conference, Dillon does. Miraphone also doesn't sell their display models

Re: Where to try out new Tubas?
The miraphone show inventory for TMEA is exclusive to the conventions, and is different than the stock at Dillon. In fact, the Norwegian star they show at TMEA was the very first one imported to the US, and basically still in prototype, because it was shipped without engraving. I tried to talk ...

TRAIN! Buy a seat for the tuba, but you might be able to bring it on in a gig bag just like luggage. It's a nice ride and it's about as close to high speed rail that we have in this country.

Re: 3-Valve Compensating Modification Theory
I’ve seen but neither held or heard a three valve compensating Eb that’s had a fourth valve added. This guy in the UK does it, but it ain’t cheap. https://www.m-j-c.co.uk/page-8/ that's a 4 valve compensating Tuba that has had the piston 4th valve replaced with a rotor 4th valve. I think that conve ...

Re: 3-Valve Compensating Modification Theory
I have two euphoniums currently. a 5 valve non compensating king I built myself, and a 3 valve compensating besson. I like them both for different reasons. If I had to change anything about the king, I would add an inch to the bell diameter If I had to change anything to the besson or any 3v ...

I've done it before with the movie home alone with an orchestra. It's fun. I'd love to do Muppet Christmas Carol at some point. Great tuba parts

Re: Adams F — $12,500 — SOLD!
Congrats to buyer and seller. I have to say that when you bought the adams, I wondered how you were going to deal with breaking away from the Kurath that you put so much time and effort into. It's not like you put lipstick on a pig, the Kuraths were great tubas
