Re: Some more questions about King 2341

It is a 3/32" Allen screw. Perhaps a light coating of generic axle grease to seal the leadpipe union. The knurled screw on the bell is just finger-tight. It is the only one that wants to come loose, so torque it down with your fingers pretty tightly I think you're going to really love this tuba ...

"Don't you think you're life would have been easier had you have married a wealthier woman?" The guest lecturer in one of my architectural courses was a master builder with math & physics masters degrees, his AIA, and a contractor's license. At one point he wryly mentioned that he could afford to ...

Re: 2XX-something people Rose Bowl band director band

My first Rose Parade, and our daughter procured grandstand tickets at the parade starting area. There were some oohs & aahs (LeAnn Rimes fireworks, the B2 stealth flyover, a huge whoosh of Mardi Gras streamers from the mid-parade Hot 8 Band), but the only two that got folks on their feet in our ...

Re: musical riddle (for the YOUNGSTERS)

I'm the right age to have seen it in re-runs (my peers discussed it), but we didn't own a television :-(
My parents thought we'd be better served by reading instead of watching.
On the other hand, I do own a '92 lever :-)

Re: Nylon valve guides

Coincidentally, I ran across my baggie of #3-48 nylon screws a couple weeks ago - there's still almost all of the original 100 remaining and the price tag says I coughed up all of $2.99 for them. One of the all time best horn upgrade accessory values that I've implemented. I'd seen one of Bloke's ...

Yep, Avengers Endgame https://youtu.be/IztjGOPMCwU I hope you're not expecting to croak any time soon - my 95-year old mother joined me for an afternoon in the sunshine at my children's marching band rehearsal yesterday & trotted up and down the bleacher stairs unassisted. Re: Question about my new King tuba

Even well broken in, my 2341's metal guides created a kind of rumbly/bubbly (best way I can describe it) & noisy metallic feedback.
I followed Bloke's advice - bought a bunch of inexpensive nylon screws, reshaped the heads, and swapped in for the metal guides.
Quieter & much smoother.

. . . Of particular interest here would be "Christmas Tuben" for low brass quartet (preferably two euphs and two tubas) and concert band. . . Thank you for your generous gift to the musical community! Christmas Tuben looks like a fun addition to my children's high school Winter concert :)

I was hoping to see a mid-90s Geo Prism! We put >3,000 miles on a brand-new Geo Prizm rental in 1991 on a big loop through Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California. Long stretches of empty Nevada highway taught us that the front end gets really light at ~105 mph (speedometer max'd out at ...

The Kadja rim size & tone feel closer to a Schilke 52d than the 51d imho. I played Schilke for decades, but The Kadja articulates cleaner for me.
Dunno when GW's price shot up over $200, but it sure makes your price tempting . . .

Similar experience. Granted I ship infrequently, but I sold my Willson (euph) in 2017ish that cost just under $70 to ship across country. Last week I sent my son's pass-down euph to the Midwest, and $125 was the best quote from all the carriers that I checked (ups, usps, fedex - greyhound wasn't an ...

Re: POLL: pricing/condition choices for a Yamaha 321 euphonium

I swim in the amateur sea, so all the 321s I've bought, sold, and otherwise encountered have either been beater school horns or cherished (i.e. pretty) personal possessions. It's not a merely utilitarian performance tool to cash a check. Right or wrong, their (consistent) playing capability is ...

Re: Sousaphone stand reviews

Thanks for the info on these. Your modification looks pretty solid and looks to fit the sousaphone just right. I think the Eb helicon would sit nicely in the Yamaha stadium stand, but unfortunately, they seem to be as rare as hen's teeth. I'm not sure what I can create, but that might be the way to ...
