Re: 4/4 or 5/4 BBb Tuba
If you would like to keep the 6/4 Miraphone, you might try a mouthpiece with a smaller throat, such as 8 mm, rather than 8.2 or "8.huge". My experience is that with a very large tuba with a very large bore, the sound isn't going to be any smaller with a smaller throat, if the rest of the mouthpiece ...

Re: 4/4 or 5/4 BBb Tuba
In what way? physically uncomfortable while playing? ... while transporting to and from? hard to play some parts of the range? ... everywhere in the range? ... to get the sound you want? ...? I guess the problem is that I'm a to bad player and don't have the correct technique. ...and there is no ...

4/4 or 5/4 BBb Tuba
Right now I play on a Miraphone 497 Hagen (6/4 BBb), but find it a bit to large for me. I'm playing mostly in Concert Band.
Which in you opinion is the most easy to play (4/4 or 5/4 rotary BBb) tuba in the low register (Bb under the system and below)?

Re: 5/4 Bb Tuba
I love my 496. If Erik really wanted to trade his 497 for my 496 5v with Miraphone bag, I'd first ask that he allow me time to make a trip to Fort Worth to compare my 496 with the 497 to definitely make sure that's what I would want do. :teeth: No. USA is to far away, and I have never played a 496 ...

5/4 Bb Tuba
Hi all,
Today I have an Miraphone Hagen 6/4 Bb and I start to feel it is a lil to big for me. Any suggestion on an equal good Bb, but in 5/4 size?
(I play Tuba 2 parts in Concert Bands)

Re: Always high
A side note to this thread, I got some PM, and when I answer I see that what I wrote is in Out-box, and it's hours since I wrote the answer, why?
Is there some issue preventing me from sending mails?

Re: Always high
Hi all and thx for your reply. I have since I wrote this tread meet a tuba teacher. First thing he noticed was that I am always bended max high on all tones, instead of somewhere in the middle. It turned out that my chin was to long out, so when pulling the chin in I was also able to bend down the ...

Always high
Hi all,
I know: get a teacher. (...and I will)
I have an issue: it don't matter what mpc or type of Bb or Eb tuba I play, I'm always way to high. So high that tuning slide is to short.
Any general idea of the issue, or how to find the issue?
/Erik

Re: Firm corners
Thats funny, because my cheek puffing all the time when blowing in my tuba. If I try to have firm corners I get not so much puffing, but not much sound. If I blow with full sound my cheeks puff, and my corners are not firm. Major problem is that here where I live, there is no tuba teacher that ...

Miraphone Hagen 497 5 valve
When I bought my 497, there was only 4 valve version, but now on Mira home page, I see a 5 valve version.
Any one have any info, or play test on the 5 valve version?
