Re: Violin tuning
Sounds like one of those real cheap instruments (maybe a Cecilio?). A violin shouldn't come with "some assembly required, since the pressure of the bridge is what keeps the sound post intact. Also, in my experience, the bridges on those instruments shift (and that's even if you managed to align...

Re: Best materials for tubist wanting to double on Euph
just let the body do the thinking and my mind goes blank... i don't know how that works. is it muscle memory? i don't think about the notes, i just play them... This is how I would daily routines. Re: Optimum number of horns
I only have the 12J and Kanstul 900-4B. I do a ton of commercial stuff on the Conn, but I eventually want a helicon or sousaphone to cover the strolling gigs. Eventually want a bass tuba for some more legit playing, but nobody calls me for serious classical gigs.

1. Don't. There are already too many of us to make a living. When I graduated college as a euph/jazz bass major, I thought I'd be making mostly a living traveling the country like Demondrae or Gail getting hired to play orchestral pieces that needed euphonium. Never happened. About five years later...

Alphorn players out there?
A position in a German band may be opening up soon. Any audition is at least a month out if not longer, and I know a couple dozen polkas on tuba and bass, and own an alphorn, but obviously never put a lot of time on it. Just a couple questions: 1.) I'm playing with the mouthpiece that came with the ...

Re: BBb or CC
I once played a contrabass trombone that was so flat you pretty much had to tune it to A. That was wild.
I play BBb. If I thought owning a CC would get me more work than BBb, I'd invest in one. But I doubt that's an issue at all.

Re: Well, Let's Crack Open This Cask…
II guess you could say that I was "triggered" by the childish "BORING" avatar they assigned all my posts until my account info had been deleted. I've read that it was very likely Farah who did that; which, considering how much you offered on hers and Sean's site, is very immatur...
