I know a lot of folks subscribe to the "bigger is better" philosophy when it comes to sousas but these smaller Yorks play really well and are underrated in my opinion. As already pointed out on this thread, they're essentially a model 33 in sousa-form.

Did you succumb to the sweet siren song of the cheap 10j in pretty good condition? The 10 minute gap between your post and the sold date means you put up a heroic struggle.

-Horn Stash is out in the suburbs in Palitine but probably the best brass retail place in the area (they actually have tubas!).

The upright bell Martin is the real deal. I had a chance to play it at various stages of the restoration process.
An immense amount of work has gone into it and it plays amazingly.

I think the argument to be made for the two-bit setup as opposed to a single piece would be having two axes of movement both up and down and side to side, in order to adjust the position of the leadpipe more precisely as opposed to the more limited range of motion of a single tube.
