Re: Sousa Advice
If your current sousaphone isn't centering pitches as well as you would like, it sounds to me like there may be an issue that needs repaired. A King sousaphone should not be difficult to center pitches on. I would be suspicious of leaks, loose braces, or loose pistons. If all of that is fine it ...

Re: New Tuba Day - Meinl Weston 2145
Also, for anyone curious, I have MAW pistons in my 2145. The fingerbuttons are what Martin sent "stock" with the valves. When I ordered the valves, he didn't have the buttons I wanted so I just told him to send it with the "standard" buttons. I had no idea what they looked like. I thought I would ...

Re: New Tuba Day - Meinl Weston 2145
Thank you, tubatodd ! We had to remove the flange from the brass plate and grind the brass plate to fit the shape of the first valve tubing better. After that, we brazed it back together and formed the flange for the test fit. The thumb lever is the new style Willson lever. I just cut it to fit on ...

Re: New Tuba Day - Meinl Weston 2145
I also picked up a 2145 a while back. I modified a Willson thumb ring setup to fit my 2145. I LOVE it! I'll try to figure out how to post a picture of it later.

I believe @Lee Stofer has one in stock. I think it was made from a Kanstul bell, but I'm not totally sure about that part.

I tried to recover my account, but that isn't working. I also tried to make a new account, but it just keeps refreshing the "I agree to these terms" page when I click "I agree to these terms" button. Fine. I'm much happier on tubaforum anyway!

I just tried to log in with my account. It says my account doesn't exist. It also says there are 0 registered users online at the bottom of the page. Maybe they got rid of all accounts?

Re: Looking for a 6/4 5v CC tuba
Lee Stofer has a very nice Holton/Kanstul CC tuba for sale. It is listed on his "Instruments in Process" page on the website. We have not taken photos for the ad yet, but I played it for a concert series. It was a good time. I would be happy to answer any questions about that tuba or feel free to ...

I'm surprised nobody has posted a reply. I didn't get a chance to try them since I was working a booth, but his booth was always very busy with people testing mouthpieces. I'd love to hear what people thought.

Re: Show off your bell-front tuba!
York-aholic I own that Martin Medium now. I'm working on replacing the leadpipe one it. The one that was on it has a bunch of pinholes in it, which I discovered when I was cleaning it. It still played great that way, but it obviously needed attention. I'm working on creating a setup that is very ...

arpthark Lee Stofer had the Alex. I immediately thought of you when we took it in.
Personally, I really enjoyed the HB2P at Baltimore brass. I thought it was one of the best examples I have played. The 6v Hirshbrunner played well, but it was heavy. 6 valves on a CC will do that.

@the elephant The one that lists the 836 for it is leather. The cordura bag is a Gronitz PCK bag. We would be happy to take measurements of the bags and discuss it with you.
