Thanks, Arpthark, happy times, when parents educated their youngsters to accept instructions like that :bow2:

Re: Copy of Hirsbrunner 388/Adams piston F-Tuba

The advertisement on Kleinanzeigen Germany comes from Ulrich Haas, a tuba professional (a.o. member of the Melton/Meinl Weston Tuba Quartet). In short it says: Very young copy of HB388/Adams F tuba, silverplated, as new. Very good and easy intonation, perfect sound for solo work, with bigger ...

Re: Copy of Hirsbrunner 388/Adams piston F-Tuba

Thanks, Arpthark and BRS, for your "interpretation" and complements.. Sorry for the lack of clarity in my message. If someone is interested, I have a WORKING email-address of a sales person at Tianjin Frater Instruments, the distributor of the Yamaha and Hirsbrunner/Adams copies. Please, send PM ...

Copy of Hirsbrunner 388/Adams piston F-Tuba

Yesterday I have seen a recent copy of the Hirsbrunner 388/Adams piston F-tuba. Looks like a fine instrument. Very well made. Owner was positive about it. From the same producer as the Yamaha 621 F-tuba, that was discussed here earlier (Tianjin Jessy Musical Instruments). At the moment there is one ...

Re: Schiller/Laabs piston F PT-10P (?) copy

Today I have seen a looking-alike "almost- copy" of the B&S MRP (PT10?) offered by the renowned shop of tubaspecialist Matthias Vogt at Leipzig in Germany. He is calling it a "Kingler Berger AW-755 F-Tuba". And price is Euro 4990, whereas the price of Erwin Schmid in Neubrunn (Germany as well) is ...

Re: Schiller/Laabs piston F PT-10P (?) copy

No, not vociferous. Sound stays "healthy" and does not break up easily in that register.
Addition: I use a Windhager (WHF) mouthpiece (rim JW6, cup C/F6 and shaft E6 = = = inner diameter 32,0 mm, bowl shaped deep cup (44,5 mm), bore 8,4 mm, concave backbore).

Re: Schiller/Laabs piston F PT-10P (?) copy

To Arpthark's question dated January 6th, 2023: I have bought a similar looking FF tuba from Erwin Schmid Musikhaus at Neubrunn, Germany. It is a perfect look-alike of the Schiller Elite FF piston tuba. I think it is not a 100% copy of the B&S MRP, but at least a very good imitation (an "almost ...

Re: New tuba day! Start of my F-tuba journey

The work was done by Araik Rubinyan. He is originally from Armenia, but is working already for years in Germany. He is a fine craftsman, who a.o. was employed for several years by Miraphone. Nowadays he is at Musikhaus Mollenhauer in Fulda (Germany). He combines this trade with working as a free ...

Re: thinking of going to one tuba

Now that I am 76, I recently have "downsized" my stable to 1 tuba, which is a MW 3450 CC: compact size, enough "output" for wind orchestra, flexible enough for quintet (the outstanding flexibility of the 3450 rivals that of a big F-tuba). So, I do not regret, makes life easier.... Hubert

Re: St. Petersburg 202n opinions

Heard, that production recently has been moved to the Amati/Cerveny premises at Kraslice (Cz), because of war in Ukraine.
Curious, whether this will result in improvements of quality (like more consistency)....

Re: For owners of a MW 3450 CC?

IMPROVEMENT Today I hade made a very thin walled, conic sleeve, 6 cm in length, with a small rim at the larger end. I have inserted that about 5 cm into the receiver. That is far enough to go some way into the leadpipe itself (not only into the receiver). And yes, in line with Bloke's earlier ...

Re: For owners of a MW 3450 CC?

Thanks a lot, Bloke. Seems to confirm my findings. By the way...the adapter I use, is very thin-walled at the end. Perhaps part of the improvement, as well...?? Yes, a new leadpipe probably would be ideal. But for now I am happy enough with the result of applying the adapter to let a (rather ...

For owners of a MW 3450 CC?

Since a few years happy with my MW 3450 CC: nice sound of a contrabasstuba, great flexibility (approaches that of the bigger F-tubas). But, from the beginning I had my doubts about the width of the leadpipe. My mouthpiece (standard European shank) fell in rather deep, and the high register (from c1 ...
