Re: New to doubling on Baritone

I play Eb tuba in a British Brass Band and am one of 2 tubas in a community concert band. i play euphonium in a Pops Orchestra, covering....4th horn or BASSOON parts, whichever is most needed. I frequently have to rearrange the bassoon score in order for me to have a fighting chance. And no, the ...

Re: travel tubas

I will also mention that I saw Mr. Roper playing with the Luckman Jazz orchestra at the Walt Disney Music Hall in downtown Los Angeles playing on his travel tuba covering 3rd trombone parts. I believe that performance was either in 2015 or early 2016.

Re: travel tubas

William Roper, a professional musician I met several years ago at a Tuba Christmas Ventura, CA, and have seen him playing in various performance venues in Southern California, here playing one of his original compositions ( "Cygnus olar - Schwanengesang,") on what I believe is his MW travel tuba ...

Stephen Klein

Had the pleasure to play with Southern California euphonium/tuba player Stephen Klein in my British Brass Band group. He was covering 2nd baritone for an absent member for a concert in 2 weeks. Sight reading and he sounded fantastic. Well, I was excited about the experience..........

Re: Luggage Dolly for Non-Wheeled Case

I have used the 'upcart' for about 5 years. Worked extremely well with my 'heavy' Willson 3400 and works just fine with the Besson 983, especially with
a flight of stairs that I do twice a week for rehearsals.

Re: Upper dentures specific problem.

One suggestion/possibility would be that IF your maxilla has the proper amount and quality of bone (your DDS would advise you on that), MINI IMPLANTS could be utilized to support/add retention to your upper denture. With those supports, the palatial section of the upper denture could be removed ...

Re: WTB: Dillon Sheridan models

Received communication from Pat Sheridan regarding his line of mouthpieces. His S3 is apparently available thru Terry Warburton who can fabricate them. Mr. Sheridan has also signed a developmental deal with Laskey Mouthpieces who should have his ‘improved’ S3 mouthpieces available sometime before the ...

As a Besson 983 owner, I too am looking for the elusive PS3 model. Less than ‘ideal’ condition would be gratefully acceptable.

Re: NStar

I’m actually glad you are keeping the ‘old’ NS. There was an ‘undertone’ within the dialogue that possibly indicated a preference for the new NS at Dillon. In any regards, I’m sorry I didn’t jump at the initial chance to buy yours……..it would still be in my stable.😁

Re: NStar

What exactly are the issues with the newly re-acquired NS that are prompting your reselling it? Did the last owner totally neglect it’s upkeep and/or somewhat trash it to a degree?

Re: NStar

From the Facebook ad: Paul Mullen 2 d · I’m looking to sell my Miraphone Eb tuba. It plays easily in all registers and has a vibrant, clear sound. It’s light and nimble enough for solo playing, but can also generate enough sound to sit well in large ensembles. I’ve used it in wind bands since 2014. I ...

Re: Hymns/Chorales for Warmup - Houston Brass Band

Very nice!! The British Brass band I'm a member of, utilize for warm-ups "The Extended 120 Hymns For Brass Band" from publishers Wright & Round. We will at times spend 10+ minutes getting it 'together' with a single warm-up number.

Re: NStar

I own a Wessex Danube. It by no means plays anywhere akin to the Miraphone Eb rotarys. I bought it because it was the US lacquered demo horn and was cheap. It does have the smaller bell that was originally the first design. I utilize it for British brass and it does well. I did notice the ...

Re: Since we have been talking about cimbassos....

I possess one of those ‘dreaded’ Chinese cimbassos. An F Schiller that I’ve had for around 10 years. I had a tech friend work on it when first obtained, making it very playable. I’ve played it in symphony when certain Italian works called for one. Mainly Verdi scores. It is a pain to have both a tuba ...

Re: Since we have been talking about cimbassos....

Is that tubist William Roper in the red cap? I know he owns at least 2 cimbassos as I have seen him perform on one a couple of times in Los Angeles.
