Helene - everyone okay?

Hey friends,

I hope everyone is doing okay. We're fine in Coastal Georgia, just no power (might be out a few days). Hope everyone else fared well.

Also, I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and what you do. I completely trust any decisions you make on tuba / equipment related to rep.

Re: Laziness Guilt

Healthy boundaries can totally be hard. I don't see any reason for feeling guilty based on what you have written. I think you are used to a pattern related to something that you are passionate about. That can feel funny, and while your feelings may be valid, they are likely a result of "new" and ...

Re: Wick mouthpieces

I played a Wick 5 once in Australia on a school band trip (school rented horns for us). I remember it being smaller, but not "bad" at all. I bet it makes a great fit on the N. Star. Glad that is working out! I have played a Wick tuba mouthpiece in about 15 years, but never hated their products. Just ...

Re: I'VE HAD IT!!!

You have way more experience than me, but if the MRP/Neptune aren't it, maybe the new Lind tubas? I seem to remember something about a larger CC option (not sure if it is a viable option, I haven't played it yet, just a thought).

Re: Your sound... Discuss

Being an anti-American rejector of C tubas, and now owning three B-flats, I have uses for all three, and it is because of their different types of sound. I also have two euphoniums which are used for different types of things because of their different types of sound. I also use the F cimbasso ...

Re: Playing with teeth (dental) braces - seeking advice

I did Invisalign. I still had to remove them to play, but the little anchor points were less invasive than standard braces. It's been worth it for my tuba playing since they came off, but was a big adjustment during. Had to learn to use a lot less pressure against the mouthpiece. This might provide ...

Thank you for reaching out! We are good, lots of water, but no power loss. We were lucky, several parts of town had a lot worse issue with flooding.

Re: Laskey K and F cups

Per the descriptions (not the chart) Laskey provides for both lines, the K cup is a bowl shaped cup that's deeper than the shallow C cup, giving F and Eb tubas more presence, but not as deep as the G cup (for CC and BBb). Its rim is a different shape from the other lines, but they don't say how ...

Laskey K and F cups

Hi TubaForum Folks,

Hope everyone is doing well. Can anyone describe the difference in the Laskey F and K cups? I see they are both listed as mid-shallow, I'm just curious. Probably not moving from my Blokepiece, but am curious.
