Re: For sale: beautiful ancient helicon in BBb
I never thought the day would come when I'd be drooling over a needlessly decorative gooseneck screw, yet here we are.

Re: Sousa Shoulder Rests
I'll try some of the above suggestions. I'm not dying out there - just wondering about options to have even more fun than I already am. Mine is ~17lbs so not the end of the world. Doing some shoulder press again wouldn't hurt. I mean, it will literally hurt, but presumably in a good way. You win ...

Re: Sousa Shoulder Rests
I've had it for two months now, playing many hour busking sessions. I think my posture with it makes sense; It's just inside the hump of my shoulder near the end of my collarbone, and is angled reasonably. I don't have to do any awkward reaches to get to the mouthpiece, which seems like the main ...

Sousa Shoulder Rests
Got a Fiberglass 36k recently and have been using it as my main busking axe since, but the long hours I like to play do a number on my shoulder. In the winter my jackets were so thick it wasn't much of an issue, but now I'm irritated by it digging in to my shoulder. I've used a gardening knee pad ...

It's unfortunate the bird doesn't come with; I was looking at getting a 2 for 1

Re: FS: Conn 34J BBb Tuba Recording and Upright Bells $3,000 plus shipping
Beautiful. Nobody buy this while I save up for several months! But honestly this looks like a killer deal. Be surprised if it's still up in a week.

Re: Valves Freezing in the Cold
ok... Now that the problem of "freezing valves" has been solved for you yankees, how do you plan to solve the "tuning" issue - particularly if there happens to be some sort of electronic keyboard (etc.) involved, "out there"? This is an ABOVE-typical-indoor-temperature chart...but (in your minds ...

Re: Throat singing
I did a small project on Mongolian throat singing in college and have always been a fan of the sound. One of the clearest channels for teaching how to do it is Alex Glenfield, who's a trumpet player as well. https://www.youtube.com/user/Glenfuch The simplest way I can instruct someone to get started ...

Valves Freezing in the Cold
I've been busking as my main gig since summer, and am prepared and layered to continue through the winter. (three jackets and snow pants, the works) However today, which was -7 degrees Celcius (19 Farenheit) when I got to my busking spot (10 minutes from where I parked) I got my horn out and my ...

USSR Made Helicon
Anyone have any clue as to the quality of these instruments, or the seller? Looks like a good deal, but I don't know how well instruments from the USSR tend to be.
