I guess I'm not clever enough to understand the point of the song. It sounds like just so much word salad to me. :eyes:

I agree with this. I think the PT-50 and PT-50+ are equally as hard to play on.

Re: my own comparison of the new-style King 2341 to the Eastman knock-off
The horn I bought for my school’s band program is also an American shank receiver. I can post pics tomorrow. Is this maybe a newer thing or something Eastman tried at one point in development and then ditched? The Eastman we bought is 5 years old now.

Bloke, those kids have learned those behaviors from their parents. They should be out mowing grass if they can’t behave.
I don't believe it requires a parent for a human being to figure out how to be evil.
That’s definitely true, but the lack of accountability at home for their actions ...

Re: DCI Costs—a pending collapse
Marching band in general (not just DCI) has become ridiculous. While I do enjoy the shows, custom uniforms, ridiculous props, choreographers who charge more than they’re worth, ridiculously large staffs etc. these things are going to cause public school band programs to disappear. My father in law ...

Dystonia and moving on with life
Back in September I sat down to practice, went to play my first note and nothing. When I blow my guts out I can play from about F one space below the staff to the E in the staff with a very shaky tone. I’ve advanced in a few auditions and was pretty active as a player, though I’ve never really made ...

Re: The Harvey Phillips approach.
One of the best musicians I know is a trombonist who happens to also be an electrician. He holds down a few different per service orchestra positions and takes just about every freelance gig he gets his way. He doesn’t have to take any of those gigs to make a good living either.

I would argue 99% of students majoring in performance today won’t make a dime playing their instrument.

Re: Question re off-the-wall mouthpiece
The shank is old style Doug Elliot. The numbers were for different backbore sizes I believe. No help on the rim though.

Re: Playing Stands… WTH?
I have recently been using a round drum stool as a tuba rest. It gives me a lot of flexibility for movement in all directions. That’s not why I use it though. I personally don’t find any of the commercial tuba stands to be particularly well built and this drum stand seems to be much better quality ...
