Re: MW Big Valve Felts and Corks

Thanks so much! Now to get a ton of these on order so I don’t have to worry about it for the next 10 years.

MW Big Valve Felts and Corks

Hey everyone,

Crowd sourcing because I can’t find them online - I’m probably searching the wrong key words.

Alternatively, if anyone knows what the pre-crushed thickness is, I’m not opposed to purchasing hole punches and the materials to do it myself.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

The Tuba Christmas Website got a Facelift

I had to double check to make sure I was on the correct site.

That’s just down the road from me. I was willing to pay $50 for a new toy. Someone wanted it for more.

No, I wasn't in the band - I went the submariner route. I put my horn down for 6 years while I was in.

Oh, the edge dressing. Yeah. I love that stuff too but use a different brand. I never had the guts to use it on the shoes like you are (i saw too many guys taking short cuts in the navy and watch that fail spectaculary at inspection). I just used a Sharpie.

Re: for (probably: mostly) older working musicians who wear real shoes to gigs...

My go to is Leather Luster - it's a company based out of Virginia that puts a mirror finish on your shoes. It's a PITA to get the initial shine on the front end because you have to strip the existing wax, dyes, and finish off. but after the initial 16 hours of work, I never had to shine them again ...

Re: Custom Mouthpiece Stand/Holder

The difficulty lies in finding a small antler. Here it is next to an adult antler.

The small antler was probably shed by a 1- or 2-year-old moose. The adult antler would probably take up half my desk.

Custom Mouthpiece Stand/Holder

I finally had the means, motive, and opportunity to make this happen today after sitting on this baby moose antler for the best part of 15 years.

Sorry to resurect a dead thread. I heard back from the Buffet Crampon Brass Specialist rep - you can still order these through one of their authorized dealers found here: https://www.melton-meinl-weston.com/en/dealers/ Part number SP15130. It comes straight and you have to find someone else to bend ...

Without hesitation, mariachi. Getting dressed up, a big sombrero, drinking Mexican lagers.

Re: wtb: cheaper lg Euro shank tuba mpc

I have a Dillon PS-O1: 33.5mm rim 7.9mm rim thickness Throat size of 8.37 Cup depth of 43mm. I'd be willing to part with it for $50, shipping included. Fair warning - this is huge and may be larger than you're looking for. It's my back up emergency mouthpiece that I haven't played in years. It's ...

The best answer to this question would be to ask @bort2.0 which tubas he regrets letting go. Then you know the rest are stinkers.

Re: Anybody doin Rochester MN TubaChristmas tomorrow?

Played the Northfield event last Saturday. Have a concert in St. Paul tonight and the call time for that is too early to play Rochester today.

Have fun there! Let me know how crowded it is. It was a tight fit on the Northfield stage this year.

The only thing I think you're missing from that community band toolbag is a 3/4 inch(?) wrench for the bolt on the Manhasset stands. It's been so long since I've actually looked at the size I carry with me in my gig bag I don't remember off the top of my head.

Re: F tuba in a community band?

There's a tuba player in the Twin Cities area that uses his YFB-822 in several high end civic groups. He's subbing in my community band for a couple concert cycles and the F tuba works just fine. It's already been said above, if you can play, community bands don't care what you're using.

Re: WTB: Dillon Sheridan models

I got all excited hoping I could unload my O1... Apparently, Dillon has been getting requests for some of the PS models. A friend just sent them a PS-O2 to get scanned for replication as they lost the specs on it. It might be worth reaching out to the shop to express interest in the S-models. Frank
