Re: June 4th: BAT Day!

Eastman 836 on the left and Kalison Pro 2000 BBb on the right; two very different horns but both put out a very big sound.

1997 Kalison Pro 2000 BBb

Finally, a short clip of a Snedecor etude excerpt on my new (to me) Kalison Pro 2000. For those not familiar with the model, mine has four pistons, one rotor, and a main tuning slide kicker. A future video will show a better view of the horn and much better audio. I have found the horn very easy to ...

Re: OKC CL: Kalison Professional 2000

I've had feet in all four camps (BBb, CC, Eb, and F) for a long while now but this was too good for me to pass up. Once I recover from the drive back (did 915 miles in one day) I'll get a few clips up. I'm excited to try it in brass band in a couple weeks. Bloke's comment about coming back was ...

Re: OKC CL: Kalison Professional 2000

It's official, I'm the new owner of the Kalison. I picked it up this evening from the owner and it was a delightful experience. He and his wife were gracious hosts and we got to sit down and talk for a few minutes before I played the horn, and then we had to get back on the road. Five valves and a ...

Re: What are you doing on Christmas?

Spending Christmas Day the same place I’ve spent the last ten days, on the couch trying to battle through this stupid virus. It’s not bad, just a pain in the butt. Worst parts are the fever that won’t let go, fatigue, and body aches. My wife shook off her fever days ago and our kids seem to have avoi ...

Price drop - PVAK for Willson 3400 Eb - $80

The PVAK was installed on the tuba when I got it and I prefer traditional materials for valves, so it came off. Kit is $180 new from Alan. First $80 takes it and postage from Cincinnati to US is included. International sales buyer pays shipping. I prefer Zelle transactions for payment. Details will ...

Roger is still active and is a clinician with Miraphone. I believe he is also working at American Way Marketing which wholesales to the industry.

Re: B&S GR51 BBb Tuba

Great horn and the GR55 is even better I am told. The Eastman EBB562 is a very similar model. Both have their own voice and play well.

Another vote for Tarni-Shield. I haven’t seen it on the shelves of any big box store but Amazon has it in single and multi-packs.

Re: Wishing for a Do-Over

Last year I went back to my alma mater (VCU) to perform a recital, something I hadn't done in 27 years. I have performed in major arenas, concert halls, and school gyms (ha!) as part of groups in front of thousands of people, but this was very different. I had practiced all my solo rep for weeks and ...
