Favorite practice mutes for BBb

Post by phmurphy1 »

Fairly new to tuba, looking for recommendations (or referral to a previous thread) for your favorite practice mute for BBb (specifically, a Conn 5J, if that matters). Thanks. -Phil

Hi. I don't think the key of tuba makes any difference - just the sizes required.
That I've used -
Like:
Schlipf - small, light, blows ok. Doesn't mess pitch too much. EXPENSIVE and only useable in small band of same sized bells.
Wick - far bigger than Schlipf but very good, tighter blow. Cheaper and useable in slightly wider range of horns.
