I have a 3-piece mouthpiece from a friend which I initially assumed was all Doug Elliott, due to it having a Doug Elliot cup ("TU N"). But taking a less superficial look, the rim looks to be a Houser stainless steel rim, with no typical markings, but a faint " 2 0". so that's a bit of a mystery.
But the shank is lacquered brass, with a hexagonal section near the threads, and is marked "N4". Seeing the label suggests possible Marcinkowitz origin, but I am not aware of them making modular mouthpieces. The shank numbering is not current Doug Elliott nomenclature.
I am surprised that the multiple parts fit together well, even more that they yield a pretty decent mouthpiece.
I'll add a picture later, when I get home. Any thoughts on the origin of the shank?
TIA,
Mike
