One of my per-service orchestras canceled its February concert - which would’ve been fun: a bunch of light classics that are also identified as movie music. It wasn’t a virus-related cancellation, but something else: a facility-use issue. Needless to say, it was disappointing.
The music director has dual citizenship, and his family is in the other country. He has recently arrived back here, anyway, because the plane ticket and other arrangements were already made for him to come for February, and he has other orchestra business to do in the month of February.
I’m receiving texts and Facebook private messages that he and the trombone section are organizing a “hang” here at blokeplace involving liquid refreshments, (probably Cuban) cigars, and smoked pork for next weekend, so I guess we had better clean the ‘place up a little bit.
There is not a March concert, but - coming up in April - a cover band is coming in - with their arrangements - to play a bunch of Eagles music with the orchestra. I will probably (??) be playing cimbasso again for the entire concert.
This orchestra does fantastic pops concerts.

Years ago in Memphis, I actually played a concert with the real Moody Blues band…NOT a cover band… We played Nights in White Satin, and their whole book of hits.Three Valves wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 12:08 pm You ever get a Moody Blues ensemble to do a whole album beginning to end??

Re: Eagles cover band pops concert in April
I kept thinking that I had done TWO shows with the Moody Blues, and the internet confirms it:
June of 1987, and June of 1994.
Here was the 1994 tour's set list:
Overture
"The Dream"
"Tuesday Afternoon"
"Eternity Road"
"Gypsy"
"Lean on Me (Tonight)"
"The Actor"
"Say It With Love"
"Steppin' in a Slide Zone"
"I Know You're Out There Somewhere"
"The Story in Your Eyes"
"Lovely to See You"
"Your Wildest Dreams"
"Isn't Life Strange"
"The Other Side of Life"
"I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)"
"Nights in White Satin"
"Legend of a Mind"
"Question"
"Ride My See-Saw"
