I've never seen a comma either, I didn't say I did? It looks like part of the engraving on this horn, which is odd.

Is it possible that what looks like a period is really the phones’s flash LED that just happens to be perfectly aligned to look like a period?
I don't know if I believe this or not. I tried to find other examples where the phone was reflected but didn’t see any.

My guess: there is a coincidentally located pit in the brass and it corroded along with the engraved areas. Perhaps in person it will be more clear what it is. I will let you know next week!
