Wallace sousaphone/F practice mute & soft horns

Has anyone tried one of these:

in a sousaphone? In a fiberglass sousaphone?

I can’t seem to find a picture of one installed in a sousaphone.

Also, if one was in the market for a BBb tuba that could be played softly with less effort (define however you like) unmuted, what might be a good choice?

I haven’t played a tuba in almost 7 years, but I recall that my Conn 36K was a softer player compared to the Mack clone I had at the time. I could also be imagining things.

Based on the principle involved with most practice mutes (though I do not use a practice mute), I've always wondered if a bath towel (stuffed around a X-inches-long piece of plastic X-diameter plumbing pipe in the bell flair) might work "OK" as a practice mute...??

And please do not tell my significant other that practice mutes exist. She'll never shut up about my "excuse" that it's bad form to practice with a practice mute all the time.

You should keep pushing that direction. If we're honest, it's best to always practice in performance spaces, too.
