amazing orchestra concert tonight - halfway between Nashville & Memphis on I-40...

AMAZING orchestra concert tonight, in Jackson, Tennessee at 7:30 P.M. with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra
1627 N Highland Ave.
Jackson, TN 38301
(conservatory-trained musicians brought in from Nashville, Memphis, TN/KY border, MS, and AR college towns, etc.)
================
The FIRST HALF consists of TWO solo spectacles...
1/ a PIANO and orchestra Franz Liszt theme-and-variations on the "Dies Irae" Gregorian chant...sung in a "mass for the dead" - could even have been programmed as a "Halloween"/October pops concert solo piece...a LOT of super-fast virtuoso playing, and some VERY VERY LOUD banging on low-LOW strings on the piano.
2/ a VIOLIN and orchestra showpiece/fantasy, which demonstrates violin virtuosity while toying around with various familiar themes from (Bizet's) opera, "Carmen".

The SECOND HALF consists of Bartok's epic 5-movement work, "Concerto for Orchestra", which (basically) features all the instruments of the symphony orchestra in a sort of collection of 5 sets of themes/tunes/moods.
Though slightly longer than a sit-com, it's NOT a "heady" piece, and there are endless musical events that will cause the patrons to smile and (YES!, actually...) stay awake.
Most importantly, this is NOT just "stabbing at notes"...This will be IMPASSIONED MUSIC, and whoever comes WILL be entertained.

This will be the FULL orchestra (even with extras, such as extra flute (piccolo solos...and the principal flute has so many solo passages, that it's nearly a "flute concerto"), bass clarinet, English horn, contra-bassoon, 5 desks of violins, etc...
I'm not sure, but I think (??) tickets are only about $35...
(the INFLATION-ADJUSTED equivalent of only $3.50 - when I was born in the 1950's)
and you can sit where you like: up/down/left/right.

Reasonable commutes are
← Memphis
→ Nashville
↑ TN/KY border
↓ TN/MS-AL border
