MW 3/4 BBb -- needs repairs

Post by hrender »

Seems a good deal if you can get a 1st valve slide and nothing else is seriously messed up.

Missing a slide and a valve button plus bumps and the valves are frozen. If I wanted a small BBb and was in the States then I’d be tempted to take a chance and get my cheque book out ... well assuming I had a reasonable technician available to me to sort the missing parts (they might need to be specially imported / difficult to source). It otherwise looks in reasonable condition and isn’t so expensive that if repair wasn’t easy you’d take a financial beating. Worth a punt?

A short search suggests that this is a model 11.

I think it's an older MW Hojo "jazz" tuba.

Nope. It's a MW 11- quite a different bird.

With the prices down and quality going up on Chinese tubas, I'm not sure I would get something like this to "fix up" unless you have the skills to fix it yourself. You might have a lot of money into it and still have a so-so tuba.
