Tuba Tuesday: Holton BB flat sousaphone, 3 pistons,

Post by bisontuba »

This Tuba Tuesday the Museum features a BBb Silver Plated Holton Sousaphone from 1936 with three Holton ‘short action’ piston valves. Some floral engraving on bell around identification marks.

Sorry for not being on the ball and pointing out these are short action pistons.

Mmmm... Short Action!

Edit: apparently i'm illiterate and didn't read the description.

Nevermind.

(and i guess i always wish folk would wallow in the coolness of short action, and display pictures of how cool the pistons are, but they do exist elsewhere)

Sorry!

Someone in marketing really dropped the ball.

I would have called them "fast-action!" :tuba:

If notes are played 10% faster, the tuba player could get out of the parking lot before the rest of the musicians were done playing the last movement, yes...??

Yes!

Though in my case, i'd probably run late, and be with everyone for the final chord.

...so you've jumped ship - from being a Mack Brass Artiste to being a Schiller Artiste...??
