I'm sure @bloke has the skill to make this a bell front horn.York-aholic wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 12:45 pm Ha, before clicking on the link I thought it was going to be a Besson recording bell Eb...

Re: The holy grail of Blokedom
Didn’t those folks - that come up with a whole bunch of stuff for Jimbo to make - have Jimbo stick a recording bell on that Hurst-burner B-flat 4/4 knock off that Jimbo makes?
curious:
Why would that model - in particular - be my “holy grail“?
EDIT:
OH...6-valves...but my stipulation was that this system is only the really any good on an already well in-tune instrument.

Re: The holy grail of Blokedom
Let's see: long half 6th valve. Hmmm. Besides double ledger line C# and low F# fingered 4+6, and some alternate fingerings in the near-pedal range, is there any other use for a 6th valve? Maybe 2+6 for a half-step trill on Bb and F? Please discuss.

Re: The holy grail of Blokedom
some slur work-arounds, a (C tuba) spot on low D (5-6-3-4), a better low e (5-6-4) a possibly-wonderful alternate for some of those troublesome Hb 2-3 combination pitches (ie. 6-1-2),
What does the fourth valve or a fifth valve (or a 4th compensating valve) do, other than “mostly low range intonation repair”?

Re: The holy grail of Blokedom
Imagine one of those original HB2P things - EXCEPT with the curly-cue mouthpipe tuning slide oriented upward - hooked to a right-hand thumb trigger, and with a 4+2 six rotors configuration.
FInally, there were be a 4/4 Hb C that could be played in tune, fairly easily.

The part that seemed like ultimate blokeness to me is that it can be a B♮ tuba.
