WTB: Inexpensive 3 valve Eb
I am interested in a fairly cheap (ideally, < $400) 3v Eb. I would prefer it on the small side--not looking for a monster.

Tucson?
How fortuitous...

Ask seller if he is willing to do a local pick up, and a thirty day return policy also mitigates some risk. It also might have been up long enough they are willing to take an offer? But if they are local, you may also gain a friend by this.
And it looks like it comes with a mouthpiece, so you may benefit from someone else's quest for a mouthpiece that works well with the horn?
I will keep looking anyway next time i am bored...

Re: WTB: Inexpensive 3 valve Eb
I sent a message to the seller asking for clarification, because the ebay listing calls it a Bb baritone. I guess I'll find out. I get the impression that this seller deals in antiques and collectables, and might not know what it actually is.

Re: WTB: Inexpensive 3 valve Eb
Plays decently for its age. My main objective was to see if Eb was a fit for me, and if learning new fingerings was going to be too much of a challenge. So far, so good. I am trying that I-am-a-euphonium player-but-I-double-on-Eb thing.
An unexpected challenge was the mouthpiece issue. Horns of that vintage are "supposed" to accommodate a large-shank euphonium mouthpiece, or a small-shank tuba mouthpiece like the Wick 5 (no L).
But, there are also those horns that seem to be outside the standardization paradigm. A mouthpiece was included with the horn that fits perfectly, but is really in sad shape. I am planning to get it re-plated locally. I had tried my post-WWII-era Coast Euro-Eb style mouthpiece that I bought in 1970. It fit, mostly, sort of, but I have to admit the ancient Elkhorn mp that came with the tuba sounds best.
Thanks again.
