a wonderful 20 minute video analyzing a Chicago tune

Arguably, this represented the pinnacle of post-1950 American popular music.

Yeah, Rick is great
So is the band and song he's talking about

Yeah… That Russian band is pretty incredible. If we are ever a free country again, I’d like to go see them - along with several other “non-classical” music groups.

My 10-piece party band, M-Dock, plays this song, as well as about a half-dozen other Chicago songs. I dare say if the Chicago horn section had a bad night or all tested positive for COVID-19, we could step in and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Yes, I am that confident, with a trumpet player who could have stood in for Derek Watkins when he died, our sax player who has played for decades, and our trombone player who is adjunct faculty at both the regional university, the local liberal arts university, and plays principal in the regional orchestra.

I would have loved to have gone…
Right now, I’ve got so much work stacked up that I just don’t have the ten or eleven hours to spare that would’ve had to have been spent to have gone to see them.

Love Chicago. They were my band in my teen age years.

I appreciate that he's made recommendations on musicians as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Billie Eilish, Martha Argerich, and Oscar Peterson.
