Nice video! Are their other instruments played more widely in Europe? I've only ever heard of Miraphone tubas here (probably because I'm a tuba player...), oh, and those oval baritones....

Dammit now I want to get my old 188 back or a new 188 and run into the Alps and... :smilie7:

BTW, is that the bass trumpet that keeps getting so farty? Not my favorite choice for music. It was well-performed, but I didn't love it.

It seems to me that a very large percentage of their financial success is due to North American sales. Maybe it would’ve been nice to have one quick flash of black and white pictures of Roger Bobo and Winston Morris, who did a whole lot to get their instruments sold - via either pushing them, or via the advertising and use of them.

Go to the Zugspitze, the top of Germany.

I spent 2 weeks in Austria in 2005 and used a Miraphone 188. Those instruments and that sound, etc. always immediately take me back to that. I know, Austria isn't Bavaria... but still, that sound and that location is my association.

Nice. The music scene for brass players is MUCH different there, isn't it? :tuba:

There are many similarities and certainly some differences between Bavaria and Tirol. But you can enjoy both from the top of the Zugspitz, as then border goes right down the middle. I don't know if they would let anyone play tuba up there, but I never asked. We could do a duet on the glacier, one tuba on the German side, one tuba on the Austrian side... and head up to Waldkraiburg for a tour and a honk afterward.
