jargon

Post by bloke »

I did NOT coin "BAT"...but I came up with some others...

"cornfield", "dent-bag", "TNFJ", "fesser", "kolij", etc...

Are there others - coined by me - that I've forgotten about ?

What are some other good ones coined by others ?

Wishing something away to the "cornfield" is from The Twilight Zone. It has been in common in use since the 1960s.

TNFJ is the best one.

Tony Clements is the person who coined BAT, I think. I thought it was Rick, but he said it was Tony.

I use souzy because I am too lazy to always be typing out sousaphone. Likewise, in other forums (or would the technically correct Latin plural be "fora") I type Yammy instead of Yamaha, and Ibby instead of Ibanez.

Not to be confused with Dogpatch, recently purchased by Johnny Morris for redevelopment.

Dentbag—I heard that first from Joe.

Yes, it was Tony’s size taxonomy that culminated in “that’s a big-a$$ tuba”.

In Latin, the plural is "fora", because the noun "forum" follows the second type of declension and has neutral gender. For this type of declension, you have a nominative singular neutral noun... But, I think "forums" is the best usage today. It sounds less snobbish.
