Bort's Rudy Meinl 5/4 BBb (it is here!)
Was: Guessing game: What is bort's next tuba?
I've told so many of you, maybe it's not even a game. So if you already know, then please don't guess.
But anyway, when I got my Besson 983 last fall, it was one of two tubas that I acuquired. The second tuba went straight to Lee Stofer, where it is in his long queue of things to be completed. It won't be finished until March. But when it's finished, it will have had the full Stofer treatment and will be good to go!
So, what is it?
For now, just yes/no answers from me.
Winner gets a prize! *
*Note: There's not actually a prize.

Well, we all know that it’s top-action and made by Jinbao, but they’ve made a lot of models over the years, so it’s still going to be difficult to guess.

Something in Key of F with rotary valves. I am not up on all the hot models from JinBao so I won't be able to guess which one.

Is this tuba listed in his “in process” page? Because, if so, we could probably deduce what it is by process of elimination. My guess is, since you already had a bass tuba at this time, it’s probably a contrabass. My guess from Lee’s list would be the Nirschl 4/4 listed there.
If it’s NOT listed there, and you like rotary tubas, correct me if I’m wrong, but you’ve owned almost every rotary horn out there, from Miraphone to Willson, B&S, but you’ve always said you love the 188. will you have gone back to the 188? That’s my guess.

All nice guesses, but no.Sousaswag wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 8:15 pm Is this tuba listed in his “in process” page? Because, if so, we could probably deduce what it is by process of elimination. My tuba is one I already own, he is just repairing it... and I think those are all ones he's fixing to sell.
(Bet that Nirschl is nice, though!)

6/4 Rudy in BBb... OR... a 5/4 in CC... or a 6/4 Cerveny. Maybe a Fafner, or something Kaiser-like.
it's small pond to fish in - you like rotors and you have said recently you want to dive into BAT World before you get too old swim in that water. You won't touch a Chinese horn, and you want something that hits harder than a 188 in case you do some band stuff.

It wasn't all that f!@#%^& to begin with. Lee is just a man who is in demand, so it's taking a long time to even get to it. All good, just saying...
